FX:Galaxy, also known as the FXmod, is a long-term modification project for the Homeworld series that aims to tell the story of the franchise's eight main races in one game. Started back in 2003, FX:Galaxy continues the legacy of its HW2C predecessor while at the same time tapping into the new modding possibilities that came with the 2015 Remaster.
Our goal is to recreate the raw excitement vibe of the original 1999 game in the remaster. At the same time we seek to polish, enhance and expand on the regular Homeworld experience, and do many new things that push the boundaries of the Homeworld engine - all while paying close attention to the lore, and making sure the game still is (and feels) 'Homeworld'. As of 27 July 2015 we only upload stable (tested) releases to our ModDB and main Steam page. The reason for this is that we noticed that each time we update our mod it has new bugs in it, and some of them are very annoying. However, the Steam workshop forces every player to use the latest version of the mod, so people cannot use older, stable versions.
This means that both ModDB and our Steam page will see less frequent releases, but that each release that does appear here will have more content in it and be stable with relatively few bugs.
Users who have access to the Steam version of Homeworld Remastered and enjoy the FXmod can subscribe to our BETA release page (here). BETA releases appear more frequently, but are untested (=likely several bugs). With your help we can track them down faster and finalize the next official release. Thank you!

I just installed the mod. When I enter the game, the cursor stops working. I can see and move my desktop cursor, but the game cursor just stands in one place and I can't do anything. I got the game from Epic Games. Can that cause the problem?
I tried manual installation, still the same problem. The cursor works for like a second, then it stops and my destop cursor shows up. I can't click on anything in the game
I read about other users also having issues with Homeworld/mods if they use the game they obtained through the Epic Games store. It seems to be an issue with that.
What is new, I see the update but what is new?
Hi - technically there is nothing, I just put a notice about the FXmod's current status in the header. ModDB counts changing the mod's text description as an update, so that's why you get a notification.
Okay thanks mate, for a second I thought something dropped.
the mod is broken?? done evrything from instructions/readme and still getting $18843 like things. it appears there is issue "reading" the english file? any fix?
i am amd user there so i did use -nopbuffer parameter to run game,game runs but these weird $18843 things come in. game then crash after few minutes with message access violation.
my computer specs asus mobo b450m plus . amd ryzen 3 2200g 3ghz 16gb ram and windows 10. two ssd disks samsungs 250gb one hdd 500gb adata,
no grapchic card,playing on internal (works very good on other games)
Hi - the "english.big" file that came with the mod's installer needs to be in the same folder as the other FXmod files. $18843 and similar text strings means that either the mod's "english.big" file is not in the same folder as the other mod files, or is not being read properly.
After you've made sure all unpacked files are in the same folder, doublecheck that the TARGET field commandline looks like so:
"X:\GOG Games\Homeworld Remastered\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release\HomeworldRM.exe -workshopmod FXMOD\FXG.big,english.big"
Without a space between the two .big files.
(The "FXMOD" after -workshopmod gets replaced with whatever folder name you have put the mod's files in)

Any chance of somtaaw or beast factions being introduced into the mix one day? I'd love to see cataclysm races rebalanced to function in skirmishes/MP against these other races
Hi - there currently are no plans for the Somtaaw and Beast to be added as fully playable. We are already pushing the engine with the currect 8 factions as is, sadly.
