It's been a long couple of days, but the first weekend of the Freeworlds: Tides of War Open Beta is coming to a close, and I am proud to announce that we are quickly approaching the stability we are looking for, and well ahead of schedule. Within the next week, we should have a server that is almost completely devoid of serious issues. I'd like to give my sincerest thanks to all of you who assisted in hunting down the worst of the bugs.

For those of you that have yet to join us, go ahead and download the launcher, and register on the forums at www.freeworldstidesofwar.com. Here, you can report any issues you encounter and receive assistance from the community and the developers.

After we have nailed down a stable environment, we will move on to systems testing. Over the next few weeks, I will be organizing a series of testing events designed to test the various components of the metagame. News on that can be found at the aforementioned forum.

Once again, I thank you all for the remarkable response to our release, and I hope to continue to see you all on the server.

Always been a great freeworlds fan, but I never knew this new one existed. I have been tracking the progress of the old one. I am an idiot.

These questions may have been asked before, but what the hey:

Is there going to be a decent single player component to this mod (and if so, will the economy be fixed so that i can actually trade and make profit on things that i buy and sell?) And have the voices of the NPC's been fixed so they arn't still talking about FreeLancer stuff?

Keep up the good work fellas. Really looking forward to this!

I have a question... will the turning speed of the capital ships be slowed down. Looking at the first youtube video at 1:22 (i don't remember the name of the class) seems to turn on a pin. Will this be changed or will the engine not allow this to happen?

Over all looking very nice.

That's a problem with the way FL handles larger NPC ships. We're currently working on finding an effective fix for it. Fortunately, the largest cap ships handle very well. It's the Corvette/Frigate class that it moves around more than we would like.

As an added note, player controlled caps do not handle this way at all.

Been keeping track of this mod for a while, looking great!

For the MCC textures, the one thing I would suggest is to lessen the appearance of the dark lines. If you'll look at those pictures, you'll see that the dark lines hardly exist. Yet on the textures they pop out as if they're the most important part. It feels almost like a jigsaw puzzle, which is not exactly Mon Cal.

The MC-80's look much better without these dark cartoon-ish lines, and I really think it would go a long way to remove them from the other models. Regardless, it's all looking amazing and I really can't wait to see this mod!

We have attempted to lessen the appearance of the hull plates on the textures, however, the hull plates look more like the Home One type of design rather than the other MC 80s. To some of us on the Dev team, this seems more real. That being said, we've attempt to reconcile interests on both sides. Thanks for you input :)

Awesome textures! The 80's are my favorite, they look amazing! In my own opinion, I think the 90 and 40a have really shined now as well.

for the weapons and shielding in game, will it be fixed for the ship as in x-wings only get 1 type of weapon and 1 type of torpedo... or will they be able to mount say tie fighter weapons on the ship?

Each ship has its own specific loadout unique to it. You will no longer be able to swap weapons on miliary class ships. Civilians, though, will have this option to give them more variety.

If you're referring to nanobots and shield batteries, no we will not be including them.
