Description

Vortigaunt and the Houndeye.

Vortigaunt model by Ambient.Impact, Houndeye model by Gearbox.

I put a new skin together for the vortigaunt, trying to get the best of both the HL1 and HL2 universe; no HL2 content is used, however. I also added a new touch--the collars are now textured metallicly, with a custom chrome texture overlayed on it.

As for the Houndeye, the main body skin is, of course, by none other than H4wk (albeit with some tweaks you can't really see from this angle). This is actually the same model released in the Gearbox "HD Pack", but with some model tweakss. I removed the face and added in an "eyelid" area, then put modelled 3D eyes onto the area. To get this 3D effect to work with the eye textures, I made them transparent in the middle, where the two dimensional textured eyes were originally. The new eyes also have a chrome overlay on them, for added effect. It's subtle, but noticeable.

Trust me, they look much better in motion, and the Houndeye certainly reminds me of the original. I hope it gives you the same nostalgic feeling when v1 is released.
