Welcome to the Pleiades...

It was the twenty-third century: mankind's darkest hour. The Coalition had closed on the Alliance's final bastions in order to finally annihilate the last vestiges of their way of life. Five great sleeper ships fled into the interstellar void; pioneers heading for the Sirius sector. But what of those left behind?

Either destroyed by sabotage or direct conflict, the Australian, Italian and French sleeper ships had been eliminated. The French severed ties with the shell of the Alliance, going their own way. In a last-ditch attempt to escape the Coalition’s clutches, the people of the two remaining grounded nations, Italy and Australia, united to launch their own ship. They called it Invictus… the Unconquered.

Navigation all but crippled in a Coalition ambush, the Invictus flew blind, away from the blockade, away from Sol. Away from Sirius. Against all odds, the battered ship arrived with its precious cargo in the Pleiades, a sector glowing with new stars… and new worlds. The two nations went their separate ways upon arrival, stripping the Invictus and leaving it to drift.

That was six hundred years ago, when we came here to rebuild our lives. But now the bonds that joined us have been broken, and two nations once united stand on the brink of war.

North versus South. Empire versus Commonwealth. Tyranny versus liberty.

Where will you stand?

Broken Bonds Needs You!

Broken Bonds is looking for modellers who can texture and prepare models for implementation in Freelancer. That includes conversion to CMP, hardpointing, and preferably hitboxing as well. If you have these skills and would be willing to volunteer for Broken Bonds, please send the dev team a message at team [at] brokenbonds [dot] net.

It's a new month, and that means a new update!

Hey folks! Work on Broken Bonds is continuing at a rapid pace -- if you've seen some of our updates on the DiscoveryGC forums, you'll know what I mean -- and because of that we feel it's time to make an important announcement about the future of the game.

Eta System, Frontier Space

We'll be releasing a closed beta sometime later this year, and we want you to sign up now. We don't have exact details as to when it'll be happening, nor how it's going to work exactly, but we'd like to gauge interest a bit early and have a bunch of lucky people testing the game before it's completely done.

So, how do you get in? Simple. Sign up on our forums if you haven't already, then visit our home page and fill out the form in the Downloads section. Use the referral code moddb-jester when signing up for the closed beta so we can tell where you got the signup link from. By signing up for the closed beta, you're also going to receive exclusive periodic news updates from the Broken Bonds development team straight to your email inbox.

Thanks for reading, and we hope to see you in the Pleiades soon!

Hey there Angel. You'd have to check with Morgan for a definitive answer, but I think we're mostly good for lore / concept work at the moment. Most of the Pleiades and all of the factions in it have already been laid out.

That said, we would definitely value your input on our private forum, which can be found at "www.brokenbonds.net". If you've got ideas about how the mod should work, we'd certainly like to hear them.

If it's waiting for an admin to accept, that means you got caught by the spambot blocker by accident. Try registering again, and I'll see that it gets though this time.

Sadly, this happens sometimes, and usually we catch the false positives, but occasionally we miss one.

Alas, we don't know. The mod is coming along, but we don't even have all the systems and infocards done yet. After that we have to implement ships, rumours, NPCs... we're hoping by the end of this year. But don't quote us.

And Italy went with the Hispania. We acknowledege that both countries put some of their own folks on those two ships when their originals were destroyed. However, after that, they built their own to try to get more of their people away than just what they could cram into the margins on the Bretonia and Hispania.
