Fragging Free is a Doom3:ROE single-player modification.

FF has a precise objective: to bring the classic gameplay to the maximum.
We've found D3 gameplay good, but it was too slow and static if compared to older id games.
We worked hard to create something better and now we have a really fast and fun gameplay with crazy fights and much more challenging enemies.

In Fragging Free you'll find lots of action, lots of monsters, lots of power-ups and a well-balanced gameplay that will push your skills to their limit.
"Free" is the word that summarise the essence of this mod: no more limitations (instant weapon change, high walk speed and ut-style dodge abilities, no falling damage, no need to hold a key to run, ...), no objectives to follow, no stupid puzzles to do... just focus on fighting and have fun.
If you love Doom, Quake, Unreal, Serious Sam, Painkiller you know what we are talking about.

MAIN FEATURES:
- Fast gameplay: instant weapon change, high walk speed and ut-style dodge abilities.
- 10+ big maps filled with adrenalinic fights, lots of secrets and many outdoor sections.
- 18 weapons: we added what was missing do D3 and adapted the old ones to fit the new gameplay.
- 15 weapon powerups.
- Possess demons: fight as a demon in 3rd-Person Perspective...every monster has his own abilities and unique gameplay!
- Bullet time mode allows to gain health and move 2x faster. It can be recharged by collecting demons' souls or obtaining new medals.
- New/reworked enemies with new AI and attacks.
- Friend marines with advanced AI: they can choose different weapons according to the situation, they can talk and cooperate.
- Custom Sound Track.
- Drive a vehicle.
- Medals for special kills and map statistics.

If you are looking for a fun and challenging classic-FPS, this should be your cup of tee! :D

It has been a long time since the release. :D

In the meanwhile we received many positive feedbacks on our work and we want to use this occasion
to thank everyone who supported us. 
Thanks also to the Moddb Staff for choosing Fragging Free as winner of the "Mod Video Spotlight" of September 2008. :)

That said, there have been also few complains, mainly about difficulty settings. 
Well, I checked the code and I've found a bug that made the 'Rookie' difficulty harder and the 'Pro' difficulty easier than they should have been.
Sry about that. 

Other complaints were related to non working cheats and bullet time slowing down the player too much.

This patch will fix all those problems and will also improve many other little things. 

Main changes:

  •  Fixed a bug related to difficulty settings. Now 'Rookie' is easier and 'Pro' is harder, as they were meant to be.
  •  Improved Bullet Time. Now the player is not slowed down by it, while the world around him is even slower.
  • Controllable demons can pick up souls to gain health.
  • Improved aiming system for controllable demons.
  • Improved allied marines AI.
  •  'god' and 'give health' cheats now work also with demons and vehicles. Also fixed a bug related to 'noclip' cheat.
  • Added an 'Extra' section to the main menu to load custom maps.
  • Added 2 new firemodes to the secret sabaoth :)
  • Added jetpack sounds.
  • Fixed helltime teleporting out of the map bug.
  • Many fixes for maps and scripts.
  • Improved precaching.

Seems like many people find it difficult.
I'd suggest to go back playing Q3 and UT a bit again, then you'll find it very easy.
Lol, just joking :D

Hope the easy difficulty with the patch is not that hard. ;)

btw, I can spawn the rideable monsters and the items related to posessing them...but I pick up the item and it does nothing. Is there something I'm missing to spawn or something to posess them?

You cannot just spawn them in order to play.
You need one line of script to activate them, therefore it cannot be done from the console.
Moreover, those monsters only trigger a particular type of triggers. This means you would not be able to proceed in the game.

If you just want to test them, create your testmap and activate them with the following script instruction:
$monstername.callFunction("start_riding");

This mod is a must have for any iD fanboy or even DooM loving groupies. If you don't have this mod, and you haven't played it - you don't love the series enough to appreciate what it gave us. And this mod gives it right back the same way you've always wanted it. Got it, archived it, beautiful pain baby....
