The Forum Wars mod stems from a small role-playing group on Ultimate Empire at War's forums, which incorporated aspects from Star Wars, Stargate, BSG and many other things into one role-playing game. Seeing an opportunity, those who played or knew the game came together to create a mod for it; in order to create a merger between these sci-fi genres while being careful not to unbalance the game.
Though the game shall incorporate three completely new factions, removing those existing and adding the units associated with these factions, many of the original Star Wars ships still feature in Forum Wars, but shall be re-done, including variant options for greater choice and fun.
The game-play itself is also a key factor which shall change. The game (EAW) shall be completely overhauled with complex tech-trees and unit refits for each faction and there there shall be a branching tech tree which is accomplished through research, and not just one 'research facility', as well as unlocking new technologies there shall be upgrades to existing technologies, improving existing shields, improving engines, even building armour and productivity. There shall also be a much more varied orbital defence system and land combat shall receive a severe overhaul, with generically larger maps, a wider range of unit types - but not necessarily a over the top amount of different units and a re-thought out landing zone and command point structure.
Though much sounds speculative, work on the technology tree has been tested on the small scale and work on the full one has already begun.
Oh, and we're making the graphics a hell of a lot nicer too.

s-t-n here, bringing you the latest news from the FW Team!
You may have noticed the lack of Forums available, and this is because we have decided [For now at least] only Staff, not Public, Forums are required. Keeps things much simpler, and lets us focus on the mod ;)
Speaking of the Mod, you’ll no doubt be wondering what progress has been made over the past few months. I’ll give you the answer:- A Lot. We haven’t been posting uploads on Moddb as we feel the stuff we are working on right now would ruin many surprises for our next release. We would much prefer to see you run it and be amazed at the gameplay changes, than see you going in prepared for the utter carnage.
Currently, there are plans for a 0.3 Release coming together as we realise a 0.1 or 0.2 just couldn’t show off enough stuff. We won’t say what will be in 0.3, but I will say it will change the way you play Forces Of Corruption forever.

Indeed there are, but the reason someone like you should wait for a release from us instead is because our team is made from purified awesomeness, and we take great care to pass this on into our work. It wouldnt surprise me if the sheer amount of awesomeness manifests itself as an Awesome-Star.
mod looks good but you havnt produced any downloads i can see and i 'travel moddb' as you put it alot and there are plenty of downloads for seperate versions of this.

We've sort of moved away from it. And on top of that, it was getting hit with Spam Bots.
I was really hoping to see FreeSpace in a mod like this! I wouldn't mind seeing the GTVA Colossus take on the Galactica! I bet that would be one EPIC fight!!!

No, our betas will be in house, however we have a mini-mod that should be released fairly soon.
