The Zone is a unforgiving place where S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S. must use everything they can to live another day. Do you wish you could build barricades to keep the mutants and bandits at bay? Do you wish you could climb onto a box and reach that vodka on top of that cabinet? With this modification; no longer will you have to run for cover! You'll be able set up cover such as tables, boxes, signs and more! You'll also be able to place other items such as chairs, sniper-towers, dumpsters and even teapots! So you just ran inside a house and heard a bloodsucker roaring not far off? Why don't you barricade yourself in with a table and a few boxes? What's wrong? Too short to jump over a wall or a fence? Just set down a box! The possibilities are endless!

What's this? What does this mod do? What makes it different from all the others?

Fort Builder: Unleashed is a Stalker: Shadow Of Chernobyl modification which runs with the 1.0005 patch. In VERY few words; It aims to let players build their own bases/fortifications to aid you in both attack and defense while providing realistic and immersive game-play. Looking for a mod which will let you role-play? You've found it.. Come sit round the fire and I'll tell you all about it...

Quick 'n' Easy Features List:
(Bear in mind, no work-in-progress features will be added unless it is finished. check features list under features tab for status report and a complete list of all features)

Fort Builder Aspect:
Fort Builder's main feature is the ability to purchase objects such as TV's, crates, tables, chairs, vehicles, teapots, dumpsters, watch-towers, fridges, beds and many more! Some objects such as a crate can be used as a improvised shooting platform so you can shoot through a high window or high wall while others like the watchtowers will allow you to set up higher ground anywhere... What about the bodies? No problem! Just throw them into a dumpster, grab a chair, pour some tea from that teapot and watch some TV!

Graphical Additions:
FB:U has kept away from UBER L33T HAX30R GRAPH1X in a effort to make it playable on PC's with lower specifications however your own graphic mods could be added for the world textures.

Sounds/Music Additions:
None at present time.

Gameplay Additions:
Real faction joining; You can join any faction as long as you meet the recruiter's requirements. Your actions have consequences and you must think long and hard before committing to a faction. Join Duty and fight against the zone... Or perhaps fight Duty and ensure the zone remains free for all to traverse! Interested in making money? Join the merc workforce... Or perhaps you would like to become a research assistant? Maybe you prefer the bandit life? You love your country? Join the military! Wait.. What's... That whisper..? "Go North... Praise be the Monolith..."
Realistic Zone: Sick of unloading bullet after bullet into someone's chest only to have them ignore the bullets? Sick of being able to take a million hits on master difficulty with tiny health loss? Find that you can carry too much? Sick of the contacts tab of the PDA telling you what lurks nearby? Hate the mini-map and intrusive GUI? Sick of being a one-man-army? Wish you could hire/call some friends? Angry how you can't repair your weapons and must buy new ones? FB:U has these problems!

The 0.1 release is NOT intended to be played as a mod but more of a showcase so those interested in current progress and game mechanics can get a peek at them. 0.1 is riddled with bugs as it should be; I'm currently stamping out the bugs and working on new features. A "playable" version of Fort Builder: Unleashed will most likely be 2/3 weeks away at time of writing. (I can say this... That guy no longer disappears in the latest developer version, I saw that he would disappear after a certain info portion was set to true so I had his info change to a FB trader info which would never be called and... Problem fixed; He no longer disappears nor does he walk away after his initial scripts are ran)

1.0006 patch... LOL! You should research that patch more; it's supposed to be a multiplayer only patch although it is infamous for screwing up singleplayer mods. There is no 1.0006 patch planned at all. 1.0005 is the only patch this functions on. Are you using steam by any chance? Is it just this mod that crashes?

It doesn't "screw" up SP mods, it adds a lot of functionality (which you might love) to the engine, such a new scripting language but it also removes a lot of scripting language (hence why) Trust me, 1.0006 is really, really handy :)

On a second note; there is a way to downgrade (Should work with steam too; you could always validate files if you mess up your install). I successfully downgraded 1.0006 to 1.0005 with the retail version (disc); steam version should be able to do this in theory too. Good luck with that, EMascheG.

No. It edits the all.spawn. Although there will be a standalone version (Only the fort pieces added; tables, chairs, etc,) compatible for Complete 2009. Another alternative would be to merge some texture mods into this. I'm not adding "UBER DUBER GRAPHIX" into this in case someone has a low spec pc/laptop (I was there once... Not a nice feeling lol) so I'm trying to make it usable by as many people as possible.

This requires S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl 1.0005 patch.
Scroll up and under "Fort Builder" title you'll see:
"S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl mod".
Mod = Modification.
Game = Game.
