Forgotten Hope 2 is a World War II modification for Battlefield 2 and is based on the original Forgotten Hope, a modification for Battlefield 1942, one of the most popular multiplayer games ever. Battlefield 1942 featured land, sea and air combat in a way never before seen. It was the goal of the development team to maximize the game experience by adding both a realistic and enjoyable gameplay to FH and the same goes for FH2.

Blog RSS Feed Report abuse Latest News: Forgotten Hope 2.2 Released!

Our original plan was to release friday, but Battlefield 2 patch 1.5 and some serious bugs that managed to sneak through the release candidates meant that everyone had to work on getting everything finished right up until today. This is why we did not want to post an announcement the week before the release, like we normally do.

One of the most noticeable and exciting changes in 2.2 will be the addition of 3D iron sights. The main reason we changed from our flat 2D iron sights was because of the rough transition between 3D model and 2D sight. We know many people have voiced their concerns about 3D sights on our forum, but the new sights have been received with great enthusiasm by all our betatesters, some of which also had concerns before seeing it in game. So, here are six screenshots showing off these new 3D iron sights.

US soldiers Purple Heart Lane King Tiger Ingame Normandy Normandy

Be sure to check out all vehicles and weapons in their corresponding sections on our website. You can also see a detailed description of each map, with its layout and many screenshots in the maps section.

Another change we would like to mention here is a change in gameplay. First off, every plane in the mod has gotten a complete physics overhaul, making flying much smoother and easier. We recognised that flying in previous versions was not something everyone could enjoy, so we hope these changes have fixed that. Secondly, the tank damage and armour system has also been given a good tweaking. We felt that tank combat was over too quickly and that there was too little strategy involved, with the winning tank nearly always being the one who spotted the other tank first. Of course, Tigers and Panthers will still kill Shermans with a single shot, but tanks that are more evenly matched should be up for a longer fight than before.

Last, but not least, we have the complete changelog, for everyone who wants to take a look at all the changes in detail.

Download the Changelog here

That's all for today, but be sure to come back tomorrow for the 2.2 release! Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums to discuss this update and other news.

Does anyone know why the physics are so messed up? I shot someone with a G-43 in the foot and they flew 100 metres to the side. Also the infantry combat looks unpolished, the bleeding system isn't very satisfactory and there should really be more emphasis on suppression. Of course this is all just my opinion, and I have no complaints about any other part of the mod, the rest is just awesome.

The physics are just a BF2 engine problem; the devs can't do anything about it. Suppression also used to be a lot more powerful, but it was really obnoxious as 90% of the time you were getting suppressed by guns that weren't even firing at you.

Also, what's unpolished about the infantry combat? In my opinion its the best part of the game, you just need to know what you're doing and have an experienced SL.

Someone shot me with a carbine and my body flew into the air and over a house, don't recall that ever happening in PR/BF2.

yo, i am actually new to this mod, i accidentaly but gladly stumbled on this mod. I love Battlefield 1942, even though the graphics are old comapred to Battlefield 2, with little faith in battlefield 1943 i long for a new battlefield 1942 with atleast battlefield 2 graphics. This thus seems like a sign from heaven. Just a few questions, i see UK, USA and Germany, are there plans to include like Russia, Japan, Itally perhaps even some less influential countries like China, Netherlands, Belgium and god knows what other countries (ok last 3 might be a little too much to ask, but its just a few i came up with quickly. Anyway looks cool, i am in love with the AIX mod for BF2 but this could become my second favorite if its as well made as that one, downloading now to see if my hopes are not too much :D and GL improvinf this. Battlefield ftw!

Countries in the mod now are Germany and Italy for the Axis and USA, Britain, Australia and Canada for the Allies. Other countries are expected, but there is no consensus yet on what the next theatre of war will be. I personally would also love to see the Chinese front - but we can all dream.

I'm having an issue, where zooming in makes the view black & white and a bit erratic. Has anyone had this issue with BF2? It's happened to mine before, not sure how to fix it though.
