Forgotten Hope Basic Training Videos 1, 2, 3

Forgotten Hope 2 is an award-winning World War II modification for Battlefield 2TM and is based on the original Forgotten Hope, a modification for Battlefield 1942TM, one of the most popular multiplayer games ever. Battlefield 1942TM featured land, sea and air combat in a way never before seen. It was the goal of the development team to maximize the game experience by adding both a realistic and enjoyable gameplay to FH and now to FH2.

With the release of Electronic ArtsTM Battlefield 2TM, the development potential has increased a lot. An all-new game engine and physics system brings the battlefield to life like never before. The new material penetration feature measures weapons ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive. Immense, richly detailed environments from city streets to remote forests, brought to you with brilliant graphics are some of the more exciting features of Battlefield 2TM. And we are going to bring all this to the Second World War.

With over 250 new pieces of authentic equipment, with tanks such as the mighty German Tiger tank and the diminutive British Vickers light tank, aircraft from the famed American P-51 Mustang to the antiquated German Stuka dive-bomber, and weapons including the powerful German Panzerfaust and the fearsome American M-1 Garand rifle, Forgotten Hope 2 has a wider scope than any other Second World War First Person Shooter, ever!

Winston Churchill once said "It is a mistake to look too far ahead. Only one link in the chain of destiny can be handled at a time." But we do look far ahead. The end of our road has not changed, only the stops along the way. Forgotten Hope 2 currently concentrates the battles fought between Allied and Axis powers in the North African and Normandy theaters of operation.

You will be given the chance to take part in maybe the most important campaigns of World War II. Fight alongside Rommel's Africa Corps in the harsh climates of the North African desert as you attempt to break through the British lines at El Alamein, or hold off attacking forces at Tunis. Serve next to American forces as you seek to destroy Hitler's Atlantic Wall at the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc, or break out from the Norman countryside in Operation Cobra.

"The battle which is about to begin will be one of the most important battles in history. It will be the turning point of the war." But it will only be the end of the beginning for Forgotten Hope 2. We will be ever expanding the mod to all of the theaters its prequel currently occupies, and more.

Whatever the side you choose you will have an almost endless armory at your disposal. Your weaponry will reach from knives to heavy machine guns to anti-tank rifles. Your equipment will contain everything from the first aid kit to magnetic hollow charges. Your motor pool will offer any type of vehicle, whether you want to drive jeeps, APCs, or tanks, and your airfields will give you the chance to pilot scout planes, fighters, and heavy cargo planes.

Forgotten Hope 2 will also offer different gamemodes for different situations. In addition to the standard conquest maps Battlefield is famous for, you will also need to destroy or defend strategic targets in objective-mode, or take tactical positions in a set order in push mode.

So whether you like house to house fighting in Tunis, tank battles in the African desert or dogfights in skies over northern England, Forgotten Hope 2 will have something for you.

Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update.

Today we would like to show you a render featuring the M1938 and M1944 Mosin-Nagant carbines, but before we get to that it's that time of year again...

No, not Christmas. It's voting time for the ModDB Mod of the Year 2014, and FH2 has made it to the Top 100 again. We'd like to say a big thank you to our fans for voting us this far, and we hope that you will vote for us in the Top 100 round as well.

M38 and M44 Carbines

The adoption of the M91/30 rifle gave the Red Army a modern and dependable rifle. However, they were still using the M1907 carbines, which had been out of production since before the revolution and were based on the older M1891 rifle. The design for the new M38 carbine was finally accepted for production in February 1939. It was essentially the same as the M91/30, with a shortened barrel and stock, a rear sight graduated to only 1000 metres and a slightly modified front sight mounting.

The carbines were issued to artillerymen, engineers and other soldiers who while not front line troops may have need of a rifle. In this case, it was not felt that a bayonet was needed, and so the M38 carbine was not issued with one and was designed not to accept the M91/30 bayonet. However, the fierce close quarters combat of urban battles such as Stalingrad demanded a smaller and more convenient weapon. The M44 was born out of the simple brief to make an M38 with a bayonet.

The bayonet of the M44 is a permanently attached folding spike. The M38 stock was modified with a groove to accept the bayonet when folded, but beyond this there were no changes. By 1944, many M38 carbines were fitted with M44 stocks. While the M44 was in production since 1943, it never reached the desired level of issue, and saw most of it's action post-war. These Mosin-Nagant carbines were made by Seth Soldier.

One thing that still bugs the hell out of me, Machine Guns/Automatic Rifles. All MG´s/AR´s should be able to fire from the hip and aimed unsupported, of course with horrible recoil. And be deployed even if you are not prone, like it is in PR. The Bren f.e. can only be deployed on prone position, the Breda otherwise can be deployed in standing position. The MG34 and 42 are pretty useless for me, since those can ONLY be fired AND deployed in prone. I AM AWARE that is somehow for "balancing" porpuses, and the BF2 engine cannot handle the function to let MG´s deploy on object.
Otherwise it´s a beautiful mod, but the issue i´ve stated above doesn´t make it perfect (not trying to sound like an arse)

You're not sounding like an arse, don't worry :).

This was an original design feature i guess to, like you said balance these weapons out a little. We did do an internal test with hip firing enabled (with an horrible recoil and deviation). However we did not have anyone that had time to finish the necessary 3p animations. I guess animators are hard to come by these days for bf2.

It is really hard to update when nobody is seeding. I think you should still put up the patches until the user base grows more on the auto-updating. I just sat here for 3 hours and only got 128Mb out of 600 something. That isn't cool.

There is a few static seeders up, you should atleast get 2 or 3 of them. I downloaded just fine a few days ago. Where in the world are you located?

Historically correct, crude and with lots of violence, completely realistic, action in the most pure level, what else can be said about it? one of the most biggest, and in my opinion, greatest modifications ever done for BF2, brings us the real feeling of the WW2 and makes us feel like if we are there. Epic.
