Forgotten Hope 2 is an award-winning World War II modification for Battlefield 2TM and is based on the original Forgotten Hope, a modification for Battlefield 1942TM, one of the most popular multiplayer games ever. Battlefield 1942TM featured land, sea and air combat in a way never before seen. It was the goal of the development team to maximize the game experience by adding both a realistic and enjoyable gameplay to FH and now to FH2.

Todays update features the "Tommy" or British Soldier player model for Forgotten Hope 2. The explanations of how the name [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Atkins]Tommy Atkins[url]came to stand for all British soldiers are too numerous to mention here, but it is safe to say that the nickname was widespread during the First World War, and was still common during the Second. Forgotten Hope 2's Tommy was created by Rad-FH. As you can see he not only made a meticulously crafted base model, he also created three different, highly individualized faces.

As you can see from the wireframe and flat shaded images below, the base model is relatively simple. Most of the detail is provided by the normal map. Rad-FH created his normal maps by modeling a much more complex "high-poly" (i.e. a high number of polygons) version of the body and of each face. When the full color texture "diffuse" texture is added the combination makes the final ouput appear to have a far more detailed geometry than is truly the case.

While maybe not the Best ever, they are certainly tied for first. Consistent, high-quality work. Even though its WW2, it still shines above the rest.

Don't mean to offend any other mods and I really dislike BF2...But I think this team produce the best artwork in the whole modding community. It wouldn't suprise me if this team turned into a professional game developer/studio.
