Forgotten Hope 2 is an award-winning World War II modification for Battlefield 2TM and is based on the original Forgotten Hope, a modification for Battlefield 1942TM, one of the most popular multiplayer games ever. Battlefield 1942TM featured land, sea and air combat in a way never before seen. It was the goal of the development team to maximize the game experience by adding both a realistic and enjoyable gameplay to FH and now to FH2.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Today we are very happy to announce the release date for FH2 patch 2.3. We also have some in-game screenshots of most of the new content you will find in 2.3 and of course, the pre-release torrent files.

Forgotten Hope 2.3 Release Date!

After many months, we have the announcement you've all been waiting for! It's been nearly four months since our last release, but today we are proud to bring you the news that Forgotten Hope 2.3 will be released on Friday, October 1st, 2010 at 18:00 UTC. We will be releasing the server files on Wednesday, September 29th.

First up, we have the passworded torrent files. You will not be able to extract the actual client files until Friday, October 1st when the password is released. In order to download these files, you will need to use a bittorrent client. We recommend one such as uTorrent.

The following torrents contains the client files needed to properly play Forgotten Hope version 2.3. If you have an unmodified version of 2.26, then you will need to only download the 2.26 > 2.3 patch (555.69MB). If you have modified your FH2 install in some way (other than installing custom maps) or do not have FH2 at all, you will need to download the full install which is 3.3GB split into two parts.

Download the Forgotten Hope 2.3 Pre-Release Torrent (incremental)
Download the Forgotten Hope 2.3 Pre-Release Torrent (full - part 1)
Download the Forgotten Hope 2.3 Pre-Release Torrent (full - part 2)

We would also like to give a special 'thank you' to our beta testing team. Without their continued support and dedication to show up twice a week, download countless internal patches, and test the endless changes that the developers make, there would be no FH2 as we know it.
And now for your viewing pleasure, we have some in-game screenshots of content that was only shown off in a render or didn't make it into a previous update at all.

That's all for this week, but be sure to come back later this week for more news. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums to discuss this update and other news

The models are fantastic, it's a shame that the dated BF2 engine is preventing the mod from showing it's full beauty :(

I couldn't agree more, especially when it comes to programming. Their models definitely push the limits.

Yea just wait until the new battlefield comes out... Maybe they'll go with that one and keep expanding... *Hint Hint* And I'm not hinting I know something its more for the devs to think about... Great work though guys! I love this mod! :D

only a few of their models really push the limits actually. The refractor engine could handle a lot more, with the only limitation being your computer. I've seen BF2 handle over 60 30K Poly models at once on a server and only lag on a lower end PC. The server handled it fine with no hint of crashing. BF2 is limited in a few areas as far as things like no refractions on water and maybe the shading / lighting could be better with things like occlusion, but those don't add too much.

Now the only thing this mod needs is to remove the weapon de-centering that occurs when you look around. It's obnoxious, distracting, and prevents me from enjoying the weapon's beauty.

Check on the forums help section. There should be a sticky thread there detailing how to get the mod to run on Win 7.
