Forgotten Hope 2 is an award-winning World War II modification for Battlefield 2TM and is based on the original Forgotten Hope, a modification for Battlefield 1942TM, one of the most popular multiplayer games ever. Battlefield 1942TM featured land, sea and air combat in a way never before seen. It was the goal of the development team to maximize the game experience by adding both a realistic and enjoyable gameplay to FH and now to FH2.
In 1921 Aimo Lahti had taken it upon himself to design a cheaper alternative to the Bergmann M/20. The Army showed some interest in the designs and placed orders for a small number. What would later be called the KP/-26 had several problems, and the KP/-31 was Lahti's answer to these faults.
The KP/-31 was a reliable and accurate, if somewhat heavy weapon. The long barrel and low recoil gave it a longer effective range than other submachineguns of the time. Somewhat unusually, the barrel and shroud were easy to remove and switch with a spare, useful for a weapon with such a high rate of fire. The original magazines were somewhat problematic: the 20 round box was too small and the 40 round drum was heavy and hard to fill. These were gradually replaced by a larger capacity 70 round drum and the rarer 50 round "coffin" box magazines.
After February 1943, the KP/-31 was fitted with a large muzzle brake to counteract muzzle climb, and this can be seen on our model. Approximately 50,000 KP/-31s were manufactured for Finland, of which about half had the SJR muzzle brake. There were also 2 variants: 500 weapons modified for use in bunkers, and 40 four use as hull guns in Vickers 6-ton tanks. Our KP/-31 was made by Seth Soldier.

Thompson M1928 was one of the more powerful smgs ".45 ACP basically 11mm" It was also well made and that too. Its vert grip and muzzle brake also made it very controllable and accurate especially when in semi auto as it was select fire.
MP-38/40 was only good sine it was cheaper and easier to mass produce. Aside from that it was a standard 9mm smg.
PPSh-41 and PPS-43 are two best WW2 SMGs for me.

PPSh-41 was INSPIRED by Suomi KP, just like Suomi KP was inspired by MP-18. If PPSh-41 is just a copy of Suomi KP then Suomi is copy of MP-18. Or you think it's copy because it looks similar? PPSh-41 has big construction differences from Suomi. It can't be copy for Suomi mechanism was too expensive to be widely used by large Red Army.

Pardon me Suomi was not inspired by MP-18, but MP-28.
PPsH was basically a simplified hybrid between the older Russian PPD & Finish Suomi.
Yes, but it was not a copy just like Suomi was not copy of MP-28. Some sources claiming that PPD-38 was in fact inspired by MP-28 directly not by Suomi.
Only PPSh's 71-round drum mag was copied from Suomi as I heard, just saying.
And it was fail since drum mags wasn't good with 7,62x25 Tokarev rounds: it was oftenly jamming due to cartridge shape. Add that they also were heavy.
And one of sources says that PPS-43 was the best SMG. It was simple (enough to be produced in blockaded Leningrad) and reliable.

By the way, I discovered the other day that there is an unofficial map pack for this game called French Hope, that aims to add the French army. Does anyone know whether it will be included in the official game? The maps look great but the French army doesn't have its own weapons yet. If they could add some of those, it would be awesome, since the French are not featured in most games. The map pack also adds Polish resistance in Warsaw 8a great map, by the way).
I have a lot of respect for Polish becomes of what they went through and because they make the best meat in my town :) so I would love to fight for the resistance!
The developers havent said an official word, but some French Hope maps were spotted on the beta-test server. Also some French equipment are in the changelog ;)

About the Warsaw map, I particulary liked the Molotov cocktails, and I hope they are present in the Eastern Front when we play as Finnish soldiers, of course! XD There is also something "strange" on that map. One of the Polish kits has a sword! It is called Scotish sword. Was this weapon already featrured in FH2 or is it a whole new weapon added to that map only? If so, does it represent the sabers used by the Polish cavalry?
That sword was in the game files, as far as I know. But you know, resistance fighters collect all weapons they can use.
we primarily used old polish military gear as well as captured German and Soviet weapons.
Everything else we "made" from scratch in underground workshops.
Molotovs, grenades, bombs, bullets, and even basic blow back sub machine guns like the British sten gun and other indigenous designs were manufactured by the Polish Armia Krajowa or Home Army.
as for the sword I took offense to that >> yet another stain left over from Nazi propaganda that labeled us as "stupid polkas that charged tanks on horse back" -_-
I know its a game and in all likely hood just an Easter egg but still to those of us who actually are Polish its a bit of a slap in the face ...
It's a scottish sword, nothing to do with polish and nothing to do with the german propaganda. So be cool ;)
Claims of Polish Horsemen charging tanks are baseless. However the Polish Cavalry was pretty successful in that nearly all of their charges ended with success.
Polish aren't stupid to attack tanks on horseback, Romanians attacked Russian tanks, only that the Romanian Cavalry had mostly AT equipment and LMG's.

Extremely off-topic, but maybe someone will learn something and end up looking stupid. The M1[(Many Variants)] Thompson was a fairly expensive sub-machinegun and was difficult to make and ship to soldiers in need of them at the time. Someone in a post unrelated to this at all said that the German's stole the US' design with the M1 "Grease Gun." I laughed because that is extremely vise-versa; The MP18, and lots of misc. models of the MachinePistolle made by Germans in the 1900-1945 period, were also, like the Thompson, great and expensive sub-machineguns. The designs made by Germans in that era of history were DECADES pre-existent to the Grease-Gun. In fact, there where only so many Grease-Guns because they were pieces of crap and cheap to make. In my perspective, they probably just stole the design from the many 100s of designs like it. Lol. Way off topic, but yeah. I've seen that mistake made atleast 20 times, so learn something, will ya'?

Very valued work! I have couple of questions, is there any maps where i can use finnish weapons and is there finnish army? I have not played this mod for months. Is there still players and good servers?
