The FOJ Community mod for Flatout2(patched to 1.2)is now uploaded and ready for download, it contains 3 parts that make up the full mod .
Some History:
This game was meant to be unmoddable just like Flatout 1, it came with no mod tools, no sdk or any type of editor.But thanks to the skills from a handfull of community members.The game has bin torn apart and upgraded FOJ style,by using the .bfs packer/unpacker(used on bfs game files,database tools(used to decompile/recompile database), customized blender editor(for track editing),language editor(language files editor),flatout1 track editor(used before blender editor available),mod manager(easily add and remove mods with a few clicks of mouse) and of course the reverse track program.
The Mod Info:
-able to handle 135 cars (45 stock ,90 custom)
-single race options added
-ai skins to work with single race options
-car selection memory (once you pick a car and race a track, when you go back to car selection you will start with that car)
-new car selection: stock cars show up at first, press up or down to cycle from stock to carpack1 or carpack2 beta cars etc.Due to this , the delete key is now used for skin selection.
-single race track selection redone like car selection, once at a track, press down and you have that track in reverse, press down again and if there was a custom track it will show up.
-new minimap options added to options menu: small, med, large, medium +full size map, large +fullsize map.
-ragdoll on/off added to options menu
-manual/auto trans option added to first options menu screen with minimap and ragdoll options.
-options menu now accessible in online lobby, can switch from automatic to manual transmission easily when going from derby to race mode.
-new race types: race pong mode now available (drive to finish line, turn around and drive to start/finish line) More or less suicide race ;-p
-new derby modes: derby tag(aka hunter /prey) derby last man standing(normal dd with no points, last one alive wins)
-dd all tracks ( host a derby on any track)
-30 reversed tracks
-13 custom tracks, modified stock tracks of course with new race routes;-p
-13 new online tournament presets
-carpack1, which contains 45 cars taking up car spots 46-90.

Remember,after mod is installed you still need to start game , create a brand new not used profile and enter the "GIEVEPIX" cheat so all cars show up.
Basic installation: (without installer)
Extract the 4 .bfs files and the "patch" file to game directory from the 3 winrar files. Start game , create a brand new not used profile and enter the "GIEVEPIX" cheat so all cars show up. You will want to extract the mod manager later to add more mods .

The mod manager is included in the main mod part 1, to make a new patch file when needed or to go back to stock patch file.
Current outstanding bugs:
1. Watching replay in singleplayer stunts will have you stuck in replay mode.But replay of stunt works fine in career mode.
Solution: none so far.
2. If online and playing hunter/prey(tag), if a player drops and you do not hit escape to go back to online lobby before the timer runs out and the round ends, you will be stuck viewing the dropped player and will have to hit "alt-f4" to close down game.
Solution: none so far.
3. New bug found: If the host selects "use same car as host" option and a player goes to car selection menu(to change skin) , that player's game will crash.
Solution: If you are hosting a race ,do not use the "use same car as host " option. Type in the chat box instead to have all use a certain car.Or just let people drive what they want ;-p
Updates:
Carpack 2 final version is done. ( part 4 ) Carpack 2 still requires the foj mod parts 1 , 2 and 3 to be installed as this pack is considered part 4.

Whats new:
-57 new cars, 7 cars in carpack1 have been replace with new cars and carpack 2 has 50 new cars. The Flatout game hit a wall after trying to load 141 cars, so this will be the limit on how many cars ( 140 ) Flatout 2 will load at one time.
-new hud, new buttons/fonts for the game, updated database for mod extension to 140 cars.
-if you have not tried any carpack2 cars that were in beta stage, then I guess cars 91-140 will be new to you.
-We have combined the updates with carpack 2, this in turn means there is no use for the "foj's_community_mod_overrite.bfs" as it was combined with carpack2, so that file can be deleted from game folder. The new patch file looks like this:

We now have FOJ Community Mod with Carpack 2 packup into one rar file that is an exe file format. When exe is clicked, it will unpack the bfs files for the mod.

Bug fixed:
Replays for single player stunt mode is now fixed and you will not be stuck in replay mode, thanks goes to "Peter Greene" on empire forums.

About the PurplePack:
Now that the GameSpy Flatout 2 online severs are turned off and we have had to move to Tunngle or GameRanger to race online using the LAN option in Flatout 2, I thought it be a good time to release a new carpack with some of Heddly cars I would like to race online with the guys I race with on Saturdays nights. And some extra stuff for good measure. Some of the PurplePack content has been release before ( like the GIRD F8 Jupiter trackpack and Heddly's Tripack ) and some the content is brand spanking new.

Just an update, the mod update beta has bin compiled and includes many updates and some fixes for cp1/2 cars along with other mod changes.J89 trackpack along with purple's dd pack have been included,plus some more new tracks.Some custom tracks have updates since Gulbroz's track editor updates included the ability to give dynamic objects brand new physics and or carry over physics from objects on different tracks.For instance the fire from objects in stunts has bin used on some tracks to mark/guide where to drive thru so lap will count etc. We will get it uploaded shortly somewhere. Also to inform that we have all carpack 3 cars and will be getting the beta ready shortly.
i cant get mine to work it just says "could not query file size for bfs archive patch1.bfs" and i cant find it.
A "could not querry filesize of patch1.bfs" tells us that you are using a patch file with patch1.bfs entry listed , only the game cannot find it in your flatout 2 folder. This tells us you did not patch your game to 1.2. If you did then something went wrong as the actual patch1.bfs file is somehow missing. If you wish for better help to get it running, goto flatoutjoint.com and post in the forums. We ask anyone looking for help to post a pic of the flatout 2 folder , showing all "bfs" files. And pics of filesystem and patch file opened so we can see whats listed to confirm proper entries and all files needed are in your flatout2 folder.

Happy to hear you like it :-) We will be updating it by June for sure, possibly earlier with carpack 3 as an addon , unless we decide to replace some stock cars that are not used much online by racers. Also in that update will be more tracks/race routes by purple44.Hope to get more tournament presets done for it and include johanus89 J89 trackpack.
Does it work with the Steam version too?
Thats a good test to tryor for sure you can make a new game easy with a new folder anywhere on your computer called flatout2fojmod if you wish or something else, then all you need to do is copy fo2a.bfs, fo2b.bfs, fo2c.bfs and patch1.bfs game files to it. As well copy your savegame and screenshots folder to it, then copy over the flatout2.exe. Then install mod to it. Most of us modders have about 2 full games running the original install, a copied and renamed folder for an unpacked game to mod (after unpacking full game with bfspacker/unpacker tool.
So what I'm getting at is you can make several copies on your cpu and they all will run fine.It shouldn't require steam to run by itself. I have cd's so could not test this theory with steam.
Hi conker343qc, sorry for delay on response. Its of course holiday season . If possible can you goto flatoutjoint.com , register and upload a screen shot of your flatout2 game directory, screenshot of "filesytem" and "patch" file so we can see what the issue is.
First off, did you patch your game to v1.2?
-if you open the "filesystem" file with wordpad, you should see fo2a.bfs,fo2b.bfs,fo2c.bfs entries ,which in turn should be in game directory as they are the stock game files.
-if you open the "patch" file with wordpad (file, not the patch.bfs) then listed in this order should be :
patch1.bfs
FOJs_Community_Mod.bfs
FOJs_Community_Mod_Carpack1.bfs
FOJs_Community_Mod_Trackpack1.bfs
FOJs_Carpack2_and_updates.bfs
All those .bfs files should also be found in your game directory as its the flatout2 patch, and the entire mod. (parts 1-4)

First off, my game is patched to 1.2. The thing that is missing is the FOJs_Carpack2_and_updates.bfs in my patch file (opened with word). I didn't install the part of of the mod, but i thought it would come with the entire mod. I'll try this.
Hopefully you get it going once carpack2 and updates installed(part 4). If you were just using parts 1-3 , then I now assume you may have bin missing the foj_community_mod_overrite.bfs.Or had removed that entry from "patch" file since we stated we don't use it anymore. Basically if anyone only still only uses parts 1-3 its needed. But with carpack2 and updates ,its not used as we included it into carpack2 and updates.
