A few hours after Adrian Shephard and his squat got scattered allover the Black Mesa Complex, headquarter sent a rescue team to search the lost crew.
This is a mod that somehow manages to do what few mods have, make HL look unique and interesting even after so much time of its existence. This mod borrows some RPG aspets of item hunting that make logical sense, essentially mini-puzzles that we get to do occasionally.
+Challenging, few ammo & weapons but
+Voice acting great at times, merely average at other times.
+Storyline, a new take on the events after HL. With a logically starting point.
+Level design is terrific, reminiscent of HL yet manages to have areas that look completely different texture wise yet maintain a claustrophobic and detailed architecture.
+Some item hunting, fits well into HL & is logical.
+Moral choice, you are forced to break the rules the security guards enforce... in order to progress. Which means there's more than one time where you might have to murder a innocent person.
-Some parts slow down the pacing a bit to much like the elevator riding sequences
From a mappers perspective, this mod has such an incredible level of detail and tons of scripted events, which the author even managed to accomplish without any additional coding or use of the 'Spirit'-mod.
Fresh and new design blends well into the classic HL style, with additional - quite cheesy - custom dialogue!
The only thing that bugged me was the elevator, connecting the surface, service and the AM-spectrometer-lab, moving provokingly slow and trapping the player with the classic HL-bug on arrival.
Anyway, the author deserves a medal for this one-man-project, especially for the outro!
I like the mod... And finished it.
Though there was one part where there were trees and Assassins. Everytime I look at a Tree the framerate dropped.
And it was unfair in a way.
The mod isn't too 'actiony' till early late game.
Although I dreaded the parts of item gathering.
The level design is good, but it sometimes left me stumped sometimes, though I figure it out fairly quick. The mod is not really good at pointing where you wanna go next.
The part where the scientist guy died, it was sorta sad. And the train-ride ending had me on the edge of my seat.
