Alliance are a serie of different mods. On the Star Wars GC, you can play the civil war Empire vs Rebel era + Black Sun and soon the Republic and CIS.
From several days ago, you can find at Steam the new version from game. This new version adds several improves and fixes, the most important are probably these, multiplayer restored with a complete new lobby where you can find all the games, the global error fixed, you do not need the defreezer more, the zerobytes has been fixed, I have personally asked about this to the developers and they say how this error was corrected, and there is a group of more new fixes and improves in the game. At the end, the game has a new exe, bigger.
Other big update is the addition from the Workshop. Now Mods can be uploaded into the Steam Workshop and players can download them as games, with updates and more, just with only subscribe to the mod. It is a lot easier for the players.
By this reason, I have uploaded the mod to the Steam Workshop. The last version, created specially for the Steam version and improved a bit more, not with new content, just some changes for the last game version. You can find it here.

About the future, I have spoken with developers and they have not confirmed it but clearly they want continue updating the game. There are many chances that they fix all the bad things from it. I have not spoken about new features, just I want everything running at 100%.
About the patch in other versions......I have not read nothing about update it at GOG, retail Gold or Retail DVDs. If they make this other updates, probably they will not be at a first place because Steam and the automatic updates gives them a very good source where test everything. I have and I am testing other incoming games and the initial versions are mostly started for Steam.
However, they have sold more of 6.000.000 millions of EAW only at Steam, it is the SW game more sold at Steam. By this reason, there are chances that they center the game only at this version.
