As the Battle on Installation 04 rages on between the Covenant and UNSC forces, an evil so terrible lies silently in slumber. In the pursuit of knowledge and power, the Covenant unleash a force that even they fear. As Containment Facilities across Alpha Halo are breached, one in particular is at the forefront of this. On a lone island in the middle of Installation 04's many seas, a facility unlike the others contains something that will make the Flood thousands of times more formidable to combat. A Gravemind lies dormant deep inside the recesses of this vault. The Battle for Installation 04 is about to reach its pinnacle.

Yeah we're gonna be switching to Flood hands at a later date once they're done, along with changing the animations.

what about changed vison modes to represent your flood-fection?

Yeah if you'll notice we completely re-did the HUD, which is now a more flood-styled one. The ammo bar/motion sensor/reticle are non-existant. As for the health system, if you notice in the video, the closer you are to dying, the more the screen will blur around the edges. We'll go into more detail with this in a later news post.

As for alternate vision modes such as thermal, I don't think we're going to do anything like that, but it's possible.

Question, did you guys think through he vehicle portion? will there be other flood with you on/in driving other vehicles? Will there be any point were you are on your own in the campaign, IE no flood? if the answer to the first one is no, and the second yes, you NEED to change it, it will not make sense story wise, and will lose a lot of nostalgia and cohesion with the story.

We did indeed think through the vehicle portion. There will be allied flood in vehicles driving with you, like the warthog (although due to annoying AI limitations they won't be able to drive warthogs effectively unless we do major tweaking). There will however be ghosts/banshees and other Covenant vehicles that are controlled by either Flood Combat Forms or Flood Biomass.

And yes, there are segments where you're completely alone. For example, that Enforcer battle we showed is a solo battle. You vs Enforcer.

ok but why are you alone? am I mistaken or are you generally supposed to just be another grunt? there theoretically should be nothing special about you, no super strength or power, like master chief had, that would single you out to fight a specific boss. Im confused how such a boss situation would make sense in a game like this.

Sorry for the late response, had to go last night.

But yeah, as I said, if we were to make the player accompanied by the Flood in every single encounter, not only would it become repetitive, it would also become rather boring. So, we decided it was necessary to maintain solo aspects in each of our levels. Indeed you are correct in saying there is nothing particularly special about the combat form you play, the only thing that makes any of the Flood special in the mod is that they're controlled by a Gravemind. And in this particular situation, where the Flood form you play is stranded on his own, after the path he had taken becomes blocked it becomes necessary for the Gravemind(the player basically) to tackle the Enforcer with one combat form.

We don't only feel that this reinforces the belief that once a Gravemind is in control, that it makes the Flood 10 times more difficult to combat. We also believe it makes a fun encounter. That said, if our beta testers do bring forward the same questions and issues you have we will change that part of the level in accordance.

I hope this helps address some of the concerns you have, don't worry, we're set to make this the best mod it can be, and sticking to canon as well as common sense regarding how the Flood work, is a top priority.
