Good day Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome back to another scheduled (albeit a bit late) update. For today’s update we’re showing off some of the first Gameplay of Released in a short video.

This video has some narration by Koo and I, where we explain some important aspects of the level. I’ll keep this short, and simply say I hope you enjoy watching (Will upload to Moddb as soon as News Post is authorised):

And here’s a few pictures I took from the area:

This 30th we’ll be taking a look at the next few areas for Released, and possibly some re-worked Assets. Until then, good luck folks.

Oh, and the Poll for the forums came back with a whopping 10 results (lol). Even though the majority who did answer welcomed the opening of the Forums, I think given the small number of people who filled out the poll, shows that it wouldn’t be a worth-while endeavour. We’ll take this as indication that what we’re doing right now is adequate enough for the Community, and will continue doing so.

Just asking, but why didn't you use Open Sauce? You could build and compile a map as a .yelo with more tag space and other additions that could be used as part of it's features.

As much as I love the idea of Open Sauce; it's somewhat difficult installation and the fact that it alienates users who don't have it installed (by not allowing them to play the map unless they've got it working) led us to the conclusion that it would be better off not using it.

However, with that said, for later levels we are still considering using it should some of the above faults be fixed.

Okay, I hope it'll be considered for later levels since it's extended features is kind of useful and neat. Especially with the new build-cache-file-ex command which will compile a map into a .yelo if memory upgrades are enabled.

Isn't this a reference to that Halo 2 campaign level after Delta Halo when you are Arbiter?

I'm afraid I'm not quite sure what you mean. Mind elaborating on what reference you're talking about?

When after you kill Prophet of Regret and the cutscene ends with Mastercheif and the next mission you are Arbiter in that Flood infested place as You are racing the humans to get to the key of Delta Halo.

Ah I think I see what you mean now. Basically, this campaign/project takes place on the first Halo, it has absolutely nothing to do with Delta Halo.

Although, the level you're talking about, Quarantine Zone/Sacred Icon, will both feature in some way in our mod.

The controls themselves haven't changed at all, but certain HUD elements will no longer exist. Examples: Ammo Bar/Motion Sensor.

Health will still be represented on HUD, as will navpoints.

Player speed has been modified too; so that now the player moves forward quicker than Master Chief, but slower when strafing/backpedalling.

You can see more about the HUD and how it works in this video:

However, just to note, the HUD is much less obscuring now than is shown in that video.
