I decided six months ago that FoF should be taken to Steam, after our project was greenlit by the community. It wasn't a small task as it involved porting the codebase to a newer SDK, and sadly my code wasn't easy to port. Since I wanted the less possible trouble, I decided to cut many game modes, as those could be added later at some point. My intention also was to improve as much as possible basic aspects as gun handling, combat mechanics or bot AI. In short, lot work was done, playtesting was pretty intense too, and now we are ready to go.

Be aware that current build only counts with deathmatch and 2-3-4 teams deathmatch (yay we added 2 additional teams!). Eventually there will be available more maps and game modes, don't worry. And I would like to use your input to decide what comes next.

If you want to host a dedicated server, head over here to get the files from Steam. Server app is already released so anyone can host as we speak.

I'm downloading the 1.1 Beta now.
The bugs I have witnessed, are random popup menu, screen saying that I'm proctecting. It would come up a second and gone the next.

Things that I don't find enjoyable, is the fact that you can't modify your crosshair size, color or even type. I would even be happy if you can at least change the size in the options. I would rather have the crosshairs off just to keep 4 lines from distracting me, since they're so far apart.

Gameplay seems too slow, and even feels limited, or maybe I just feel that way because the the player models aren't exagerated enough. They seem too stiff when they run or jump. The models should be animated in a way where the players feel that they're in a real gun fight, rather than "Look, there's some guy walking towards me, shooting at me."

Some use of wall penetration would be fun also. Not sure if it's on or not, haven't noticed, but I think there isn't.

Also, the tomohawk seems too strong, and maybe even has too much of a far reach. It'd be more... Uh, balanced maybe if it was at least 3 hit kill (For someone unarmored), or at least keep it the same damage but less of a reach.

I don't know if any of this is fixed in 1.1, but I just thought I'd share what I thought.

:]

great, but I thought the melee attacks were too slow and inaccurate, also, the rounds ended right when it was getting good.

Real good for a first beta...

However, one outstanding bug I came across is that sometimes a player's team will get messed up so that if an enemy shoots or kills them, the enemy is punished as if they had shot and killed a teammate.

Yes, that issue and some more will be fixed in the upcoming beta 1.1. There also will be weapon balances and some new features that will make the game much more solid and enjoyable.

The cube map in Presidio is staggeringly good. But some of the weapon animations seem a bit cluncky.

Great mod, just wish there were some better (20+ players) servers, or even that Texas 20p server that was up the other day.

I think there is a lot of cool content here to make for an excellent mod. I'm a huge western movies fan and I was hoping for something more in this mod. My main concern with this mod is how the weapons feel and handle. Very hard to make a kill, and difficult to know when you hit someone. This mod also seems to have a lot of different color schemes which make it hard to understand what everything means. It took me 3 plays to understand how the weapon selection menu works (I still don't quite get…
