I decided six months ago that FoF should be taken to Steam, after our project was greenlit by the community. It wasn't a small task as it involved porting the codebase to a newer SDK, and sadly my code wasn't easy to port. Since I wanted the less possible trouble, I decided to cut many game modes, as those could be added later at some point. My intention also was to improve as much as possible basic aspects as gun handling, combat mechanics or bot AI. In short, lot work was done, playtesting was pretty intense too, and now we are ready to go.

Be aware that current build only counts with deathmatch and 2-3-4 teams deathmatch (yay we added 2 additional teams!). Eventually there will be available more maps and game modes, don't worry. And I would like to use your input to decide what comes next.

If you want to host a dedicated server, head over here to get the files from Steam. Server app is already released so anyone can host as we speak.

Really happy this is still being worked on. However, I think you guys should make it a priority to fix those ugly low poly boots on the cowboy models! Doesn't take very much time to add a few edge loops in there. Have you tried experimenting with Source's jigglebones as well?

Love the faster gameplay as well, much better than the last time I played.

It's funny you ask about that because previous versions used an higher quality player model but is seemed corrupt, nothing visual but it's like it caused client crashes somehow. So I removed the highest quality LOD and no more of those weird crashes for me.

Played this mod on and off since 2008 it can be alot of fun that new map with the train is just amazing, maybe be an idea to add music ingame like whats in the trailer cos it can be a little too quiet.

I never liked the idea of in-game music since FoF is a competitive game. I mean there may be cases where music fits in a multiplayer game, but this isn't the case.

Maybe have it played very quietly or when a person/team scores or round nears its end?.

Well, the servers are empty again at release, but this time around you can't even play with bots while you wait for others unless you like being swarmed by zombies in the only cooperative map left.
I don't like the gigantic menu with preset loadouts shoved in your face as soon as you join a game. Most, if not all, the presets require more notoriety than you start with to have a complete loadout. I think it would be better to have a few that work with the default value(35) instead.
A few new maps and different textures don't do much if there's nobody playing, so I can't say anything about those that haven't been said on the individual screenshots.

I'm a bit disappointed with this update. I liked that, in the last one, you could at least practice with bots when nobody was playing, but apparently you didn't agree with that.

Did you even try to find players? Why I can join when people are playing and others can't? This is an unpopular mod but it's updated more frequently than all the different mods altogether. Add me on Steam I WILL tell you when there's people on.

Well, I tried again, and the bots finally work on standard game modes. Sorry RYell.

My disappointment now rests on the preset menu and the very small size of the community.

Some servers admins may disable bots, I don't like that but it's their server, their choice :) But yeah, most game modes and maps are supported by bots. They join after warp-up now btw.

The preset menu is meant to be customized, but as it's by default just offers the usual weaponry someone may want to use at start. No idea what's the problem with 'a few work with default notoriety', because that's not important at all.

any plans to port to the source sdk 2013? and if so, any plans for linux support?

No idea, it's a pretty large move code wise and the supposed benefices aren't that great to me. A slightly newer Source engine version (mostly fixes) and client support for OSs that don't really gather many gamers won't help this mod too much I think. Valve decided they want to push Linux now and that's good, but I usually like to dedicate my time to create new stuff, and this new SDK comes too late for most of us Source modders I think.

I think there is a lot of cool content here to make for an excellent mod. I'm a huge western movies fan and I was hoping for something more in this mod. My main concern with this mod is how the weapons feel and handle. Very hard to make a kill, and difficult to know when you hit someone. This mod also seems to have a lot of different color schemes which make it hard to understand what everything means. It took me 3 plays to understand how the weapon selection menu works (I still don't quite get…
