I would say striping the Earths atmosphere would make much sense :/ I would rephrase that and say that they are trying to terraform the planet and change its atmosphere to be like theirs.

Id also recommend that you add some rebel hands and a rebel player model seeing as Gordon is overused these days :/ IF you could also manage adding the cut beta weapons such as the AK-47, OICW, SMG2 "MP5K", & properly script and skin the Alyx gun and Annabelle rifle it would greatly improve the mods diversity game play wise.
These weapons can be reskined to be local resident human weapons left over from the 7 hour war. For example since the mod takes place in the alps many German & Swiss weapons can be used.
AK-47 = German G36 series G36, G36K, G36C, or you could even make it a LMG as the MG36 with a little script work. The Swiss SIG 500 series would also work for example the SIG 550 or 552 would be perfect.
Alyx Gun = German MP7A1 series and again with script work it can be made to use SMG1 ammo and the SMG1 is basically a Combine MP7 variant. The MP7 also works great since like the original beta Alyx gun its can be used as a pistol or unfolded and turned into a PDW.
The SMG2 would make a great MP5 or MP5 M203 replacement as well. It could also be the Swiss SIG SG 750 or SG 751 SAPR rifles as they are .308 version of the SIG 500 series and with script work the SMG2 GL can be changed into the SG 750s 3 round burst fire mode.
The Annabelle rifle can also be made into a German/Swiss civilian SIG-Sauer SSG 2000 rifle or even the Russian Mosin Nagant as they are just about everywhere and plentiful in quantity and ammunition as well.
These are just some examples but if you ever get a dedicated team of animators and modelers it would greatly enhance the quality of your mod.
