"Stand Humans, Your Final Battle Has Begun"
Seven students from the The University of Salford have undertaken an ambitious project to create a total conversion of Far Cry.
First Contact: Planetfall is a First Person Sci-Fi action adventure game dropping players into a fully realised alien world teeming with strange creatures and threatening alien enemies.
Players must survive in this hostile alien environment while discovering a secret plot, buried beneath the surface of the planet that could spell the end of the human race.
The Shark in a Cube Mod team includes Will Evans, Toby Everett, Mike Bird, Mike Roberts, Jenny Rathbone, Martin Palmer and James Boorer.
The Team took 6 months to produce the mod. createing new game mechanics, adding fresh graphical effects and produceing huge amounts of custom made content to transfrom the tropical far cry into the alien world of Hestia for First Contact: Planet Fall!!!

I noticed on a play through just now that there are important sound and music files that don't play in the second level! I'm not sure how this happened, but I've updated the .cry file so that they should all now work. *fingers crossed*
I'm surprised no one has brought this up yet, as its kinda weird without them. (or perhaps not maybe people have got to the second level, which is hopefully the case).
So big apologies to those who have played through level2 already, please try it again.
This makes Level2 a million times better!, and its how it was meant to be played! so please please please download the updated level .cry from here:
The second level can be tricky to defeat the boss, but the level experience will be infinitely better with the added music and voice acting! :)

Heya there.
Really sorry about the problems ur all having. Unfortunetly most of us guys that worked (our arses off i might add lol) on the project are now either working in the industry or are doing post-grad projects so im afraid a further patch for the mod or further problem solving with compatibility isnt very likely.
My apoligies again. I've put as much video material about the game online as I can.

I installed this mod but when I try to load it it just goes back to the original game and I have updated with 1.33 patch. What am I doing wrong
If it automatically reverts to the original FarCry when you select this mod, ensure that there is no space in it's directory. eg Farcry\Mods\First Contact = BAD, Farcry\Mods\FirstContact = Good.
Hi Bunnyjen and all at Shark in a Cube. After posting, I read further on the comments and my problem was explained as un-fixable by you.
The MOD looks great but I will not play it on default controls. Any chance of a patch for control options in the future?
Please help. I installed the mod and it starts up fine. The problem is I can not use my customized controls. I aborted and went to my Far Cry and found my controls set to default. I reset them to my preferences and restarted First Contact. No effect! I want to play this MOD but not with W,A,S,D etc. I will be LOST on the keyboard.
3. I can't load the saved games.
Really sorry dude. Our game is never going to be compatible with everyones set-up. There are many videos and such forth that show what happens throughout the rest of the game on youtube from the link below...

There are a few known issues.
On your 1st point, the recharge sometimes does not charge your suit yet depletes the plant if you are moving while you sample it. So stand still before you use the plant.
2nd point, i'm assuming you mean there is no map topography on the radar? Firstly there isn't any topography displayed on the radar. And secondly the radar is only displayed on the hud when you have the PSA equipped and your suit has power.
3rd point. This is something I never encountered, yet it seems other have done. The only thing I can suggest is in one of my posts before, i'll summerise:
If the problem is that it will not load the second level checkpoint I can suggest that you create a new shortcut and paste this in as the location:
"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -devmode -MOD:FirstContact
(or wherever you have placed farcry the -devmode and -MOd.. bit are the important things)
then call the shortcut "FirstContact dev" or something.
This will allow you to choose which level you wish to begin the game on. So if you had saved it in level 2 and cant get back, you can use this solution to get there again easily. Or you can jump to level 2 if you wish. I do not know why inter level check point saves do not load, sorry.
p.s. there is a known issue where the physics of objects occasionally goes crazy (they act like they have very little mass) when the game is reloaded if you die. So its recommended that the first level is played through past the canyon area in one go. (takes 30 mins max)
