Firearms:Source is a team based first person shooter, rooted in the traditions of the Firearms mod for Half-Life. Firearms:Source brings the best aspects of Firearms to the Source engine, and then takes them a step further. You'll see a host of familiar weapons and maps, but you'll find the streamlined game play to be faster, focusing on aggressive, skilled play. From nearly the moment you spawn you can expect to be engaged in furious action.

"Who is to say what is the greater consciousness here, the man or the weapon? I will, of course, offer my own humble opinion on the subject for your... greater entertainment. So much for philosophy, but this is my mind and my story, so kindly forget that I mentioned it. When I die, and oh will I die, the faceless puppet of a man that replaces me -will I be him as well? It's getting difficult to tell, we're all so similar. The same package, different gun, like little pieces on a chessboard.

No, not quite. I lied when I said that my successor would be myself incarnate. The undeniable truth is that I am my weapons, that is all. A Colt Anaconda, 12-inch KABAR, Claymore, a pair of M67's, full standard gear, Night Vision Goggles, Bandages. That's what I am. I'll pass through ten thousand bloodstained hands, climbing this mountain of bodies for eternity, adding my own corpses to the pile now and again. Should I ever reach the top? I think I'll admire the view. The man is worthless here; the weapon, the firearm is his soul and mind in this place. Soldiers do not pick their weapons; weapons select new soldiers to carry them. Weapons do not die; weapons kill.

What to call this artistic piroette of speed, weaponry, and bloody carnage? Well, there's no reason to be coy. This is Firearms."

Please Note:
I've deleted several comments from our profile from people who have mistaken us for a different Source engine mod. I would like to point out that Firearms: Source is operating with the support of the current Firearms team. Current FA Team Leader AlejandroDaJ has given us his backing and is currently a level designer, and former FA Team Leader Ben Irwin has also thrown us his support. Former FA Team member Hitman is the FAS Team lead programmer, and former FA Team member Christian Oelund is one of the lead artists.

Hello Firearms: Source Followers! It has been a little over a month since our last update, however, it is a result of our immensely busy developing schedule. For the past month, we have been busy ironing out bugs in code and maps. Today we don't have any new eye candy to showcase, but we do have a quick 2 and a half minute video of last Sunday's test. Now you may be wondering, what is so special about last Sunday's test? Well we added 32 Freshmeat Alpha Testers to give them their first taste of FA:S. We have added these testers to help us get a better idea of how FA:S holds up under a full server, and so we can see how the weapon roles change. I was quite pleased to see that the game held up very well, and there was much fragging. We received a lot of positive responses from our testers, as well as quite a few bug reports (most minor). We are still working very hard on removing the most critical bugs in order to get the first RC version to you within a reasonable time line (can I be more vague). I would like to give a more solid deadline, however with modding, it is hard to gauge how much time left still needs to be put into the mod.

In the video above, taken by Hitman, you will see a recently redone tc_iwojima that is still in very raw stages (you will notice some bland areas and bugs). TC_Iwojima was redone because of performance and gameplay issues. DysPatch opened up a lot of the map and made it larger for a more diverse gameplay, allowing sniping and close quarter combat to work together. This is by no means an FA:S trailer, we feel we owe it to you. This video was taken on the first scheduled test for the new Freshmeat testers, so there was plenty of fragging. You will see how the larger tunnels on tc_iwojima promote more strategy and teamwork. This is raw, unedited, footage of FAS at its current state. There is also a short 22 second video using the M4A1 on tc_rubble.

I hope you enjoyed the videos, and we will try to make sure we get a properly edited video sometime in the not too distant future. Also in community news, Firearm's "The Capture Point," a Firearms resource site for custom content, is reopening for Firearms: Source. The founder of TCP, mp!1HP, is looking for a web developer to help him code the resource website. So if you have any spare time and want to help him out, you can contact him at pawlus.marty@gmail.com. Below is a preview of "The Capture Point" for FA:S.

We will try to get the next news post to you all a bit sooner.

awesome, but you know you should add more movements to the guns, so they dont stay still when you turn, but they move with you... like in insurgency but not that much and the crosshair stays on the middle... well you get it.

This mod would have been better if the REAL original firearms team worked on it, instead of these thief pricks.

I was on the original Firearms Team that brought you 2.5, 2.6 and 2.65. I now find myself in the FAS Team leadership position. If FAS was not officially sanctioned by the FA Team, I wouldn't be here helping work on the project. The current FA Team leader, the guy behind FA 3.0, Alex Jordan, is helping us out in development and is on our roster as a full member. We also have a nod of approval from Ben Irwin, who was on the FA Team since before it's release and is probably the longest serving FA1 developer I can think of. We also have content contributed from Sulsa and Prowl, two members who joined sometime after 2.6 if I recall correctly. Additionally, we have sought approval from many of the FA1 mappers to remake their maps for FAS, something I can't say for other mods. Most of them have given us their permission which in turn, signals that they have no problem with us bearing the FA banner.

So with the current and even past FA Team leadership behind us, an FA Team member leading the FAS project, former FA Team members helping out with development, and FA1 mappers giving us permission to do remade maps of theirs, I'm not sure where you've gotten the idea that this is stolen. We used the Firearms name with permission from the people currently maintaining Firearms: Half-Life and have their nod of approval, and one of them (me) is currently leading the team.
