As expressed in our Pre-Spring Update, some of us are very busy with work and living. In order to get the open beta out to you, we require the assistance of programmers. Great ones like you! Our friend below is clearly having a good day.

We've had a big change behind the scenes here, so I'll be Firearms' new Project Coordinator. I'd like to introduce myself as Vunsunta. My role, as well as sound design and animation, will be more of a facilitator of production knowledge and quality assurance. Much has changed so we're still catching up as a team. Please excuse the condition of the forums at the moment, things like spoilers not functioning and similar issues. The transition into the new version of vBulletin has jumbled a few settings and it's been challenging for the right people to get time to resolve it.

Oelund, our Art Director, has taken it upon himself to give you all not one, not two, but kind of sort of 3 or 4 Beretta pistol variants!

We start with the Beretta M92FS. A classic Firearm and a well known friend to FAS. This 15 round 9mm pistol can be outfitted with a suppressor, a recoil compensator and a 20 round magazine. Future plans also include  a pistol reflex sight for all variants, and a laser aiming module. But, under-barrel attachments will automatically give you our next weapon...The Beretta M92A1. This pistol is the same as the 92FS except for the addition of a weaver rail. You also can select this weapon if you want even without attachments. Next is the Beretta M96 Brigadier. This is a new addition to the Firearms brand. Chambered in .40 S&W, you can deal a little more damage for a higher cost (or however we ultimately decide to balance it). A slightly different slide can help tell the difference visually.Lastly we have our beloved Beretta M93R making a return back to Firearms. This select-able 3 round burst pistol will have an option for a folding stock, so you can make sure you feed all 20 of your digital bullets to those in need.

I've fixed the Issue, but it seems the Alpha server is either down or they have yet to turn it on.

I've installed it but the server isn't appearing. I'm downloading the server thing but how do I install it? If I run 1.0 it shows up (the 2.0 server) but not if I run 2.0. please help.

I cannot see the server I typed the IP address into it but it still didn't show up. It wouldn't go into Fav. so I couldn't join. I accidently copy and pasted FAS 2.0 over FAS 1.0 ( i fixed that issue) btu aloud me to go into the server but it was broken obviously. please help.

This mod has a hard name to live up to, so I'm trying to give it some slack. To start off, the weapon models and animations are good, they're nice to look at and watch. The movement mechanics are fast, fluid, smooth, and easy to get the hang of. The arsenal of weapons, much like the original, is varied and vast in numbers; attachments also add a lot of customization alongside the skills that work much in the same way as in the original Firearms mod. What I feel is honestly killing this game right now is the weapon mechanics... I feel like I'm shooting a nerf gun at people. I understand that the weapon damage is not supposed to be realistic, but when it takes 5 or (usually) more shots (including headshots, which feel not worth aiming for) from, as an example, a semi-automatic 7.62x39 rifle (SKS, specifically) to kill someone it just doesn't feel satisfying. Watching the duckbill magazine reload animation for the SKS is awesome, but emptying that 30 round mag just to kill one or two people at most isn't very enjoyable at all. There's a lot of work to be done still, it's still in Alpha, but right now I cannot find much enjoyment in the game.

Damage is pretty much always in flux, as up until a few weeks from release the game was so lethal that you could die from peeking around the wrong corner. Currently it's a bit too far in the other direction for Medium and Heavy armour classes. 5-6 shots to the torso to kill a full health player sounds about right, but headshots and hits from frontloaded weapons (snipers, shotguns, explosives) aren't quite as meaty as they should be.

Next update should scale back on the armour absorption a little, so stay tuned. If it's just damage/health that concerns you, that's a pretty simple change to make.

the new alpha rocks! some sounds are missing but I understand this is only in alpha stage. the muzzle flash and explosion effects are incredible (I personally think there should be greater echo when guns are fired) In short I'm looking forward to the release of final version

I've gone threw and checked out every option in this mod. I am an original player of the ORIGINAL Firearms mod for HL1 and it was the greatest mod I ever played multiplayer wise. Firearms: Source barely lives up to the original. Lack of Iron Sights!!!!! If you're going to make or even think about making a mod/game revolving around weaponry you have to give the player the ability to aim down his weapons sights!!!! And I dont jsut mean the Scopes on his Sniper Rifle either. Come on add it in the next…
