Firearms: Source is a team based first person shooter, rooted in the traditions of the Firearms mod for Half-Life. Firearms: Source brings the best aspects of Firearms to the Source engine, and then takes them a step further. You'll see a host of familiar weapons and maps, but you'll find the streamlined game play to be faster, focusing on aggressive, skilled play. From nearly the moment you spawn you can expect to be engaged in furious action.

RSS Feed Tester Videos and Press Preview Weekend

As we have been nearing release, we have been quiet recently because we have been trying to keep our heads down and power through the feature list and squashing any bugs along the way. So, I am sorry that you may have felt a bit in the dark the past month, but we have been at our most productive state. The orange box port is almost complete and we are currently in the process of compiling a linux server build.

Thankfully, while we have been too busy to take screenshots or videos of the game, our testers took it upon themselves to throw something together for you all.

For those of you who operate sites or podcasts for game reviews and would like to help promote FA:S, please e-mail us at apply@firearms-source.com with your name, your website's name, and a link to your website. We will fill you in on our Press Preview Weekend that will be coming up within the next couple weeks.

If you want more media, you can also check out Sorru's raw FAS footage in our Beta Testing Journal. Thanks for checking in.

Looks like it'll be a lot of fun going against an AWP team...

It can be. Headshots are lethal. The weapon focuses on the accuracy of your shot, not the number of shots you can put downrange.

In CSS terms, think of it more as the "scout" with the addition of a bipod and a reload system which actually makes sense (bullets are loaded individually into the internal magazine). Unlike the AWP, even the M82 won't kill players in a single shot to the body, though when on a bipod the recoil is low enough that it can easily double-tap players.

@OP
I am already imagining that as I'm watching the video.

I'd like to suggest the sniper class' movement speed to be a bit slower than the rest of the classes for balance purposes, similar to how CS restricts players' movement with the AWP. It's a support class for crying out loud. As much as I enjoy runnin and gunnin with a sniper, it'll get annoying when someone with a good shot has the sniper while you're a different class, and the minute you start shooting, you're already dead.

I think, until release, we should let the devs balance things out and then complain after experiencing it.

I dont know if its possible with Source, but I think that when you are using the scope, that you bring the scope closer to the screen, and then switch to the zoom. Would be even cooler if you could zoom in, and see everything around the scope as usual, like the crossbow in Killing Floor

As evidenced by insurgency...this is completely possible. However, the amount of coding involved with doing such a thing, and the lag/glitches involved with it are substantial.

As evidence of TC:E Youtube.com

If quake 3 can do it, so can source ;D.

Would also be nice to see some aim sway simulation instead o the stock source "Bullets don't hit the crosshair" simulation.

Will firearms source have the injury system of firearms?

The sight on that M24 is similar to one sight in CS 1.6. Not a fan of that sight, looks crap to be honest. Big red dot in the middle with solid black lines making a cross.

The animations for the M24 are very weak and awkward looking, but the gameplay looks solid. A bit disappointing to hear those citizen sounds still in the mod though.
