devkid (cryengine addon) mod: operation clearing my new sound routine which does not need broken EAX drivers on windows, standart 2 chanel onboard soundroutine do the job.
sorry, i forgot to show the gun sound engine for in/outdoor :D but its also in and very impressive, i swear :D
how it works: original EAX soundroutine do mathematical calculations on all sounds and process then mostly poor sounding reverb effects which cost about 10% CPU resources (which means 10% less FPS in cryengine). it also needs the right OS with correct drivers and setups and many
luck.
my routine does following: i play additionally, depending on material in my (also materialbased) steproutine, a precalculated reverbconvolution. lets say my steproutine detects a stone basedfloor, like concrete, rock or ceramic for example, and its indoors, then it switches to this addition
routine which randomly choosed from a precalculated pool that reverbadditions and play them
with some tweaks (volume and frequency depends on player movementspeed).
result: fine reverberation sound with 0% cost FPS or CPU and without creating EAX areas in the map,its all done automaticly for my indoor areas.
the same is done by the weaponsound routine. all this depends then on the enabled or disabled drug effect (if player have done a overmedication in difficulty lvl "simulation" ), if drug effect is enabled, the whole soundroutine is pitched down.
basically: the engine knows if its indoor or not and she know the floor material, then she simply play automaticly a prerendered reverbconvolution additionally to the materialstep sound. so its NOT needed to
create for all the different crete or metal materials new stepsound and modify all the needed materialscripts :)

Would be cool to have something like this in Stalker too. Sounds awesome!
thank you! it would be very easy porting this routine to stalker. stalker use the same lua interpreter and even the code should be run instant.
I remember it kinda worked on older drivers and on windows xp.
Then EAX present just kinda stopped working what is a shame since it had very cool effects and had a lot of potential. I still cant figure out why it wont work on vanilla FC.
i got EAX work on vanilla FC, but it need many conditions: to much, and i have to face that OPCL will be played not only on wxp with correct installed and used EAX sounddrivers.
my system works on every (!) OS together with the lowest soundsettings possible.
Great work as always! It's great to see (and especially to hear) that we can have this effect on newer Windows releases too.
thank you and yes, this now works on all maps loaded in devkid instantly without any adjustements and on all OS with all sounddrivers without any single percent performance decrease.
its because its "faked" and prerendered, but honestly: who cares?
Nice! It's great that we have mothers like you which bring additions like this to one of the best fps games.
Nobody I guess.
Also, you should check my video where I responded to your comment.
did you have a link pls? i can't find it!
Yes, here ( Moddb.com ).
*modders (stupid ******** language checker has changed it and I forgot to check it).
thank you :)
**** I want to play this now
give me time to polish it to perfection, at least that will increase the replayability drastically, and that is why i develope it: make the (for me) perfect game :D
perfect means: start it and it's always a little bit different and its also ok if you not do the storymode, just use it as wander and fight simulator and look how far you come without dying, its really amazing :)
