Five Elite Mercenaries are send to an Island in middle of the 1980'. The Task: Find and Eliminate a local Drug Baron. Features: new Physic, real Sunmovement, Day/Night Change, Hunger/Food system, realistic (!) Weather system, Light/Dark viewing system for AI, 5 different Fractions on the Island. Complete Realistic simulation of nearly all things, including Sleep. New weapons, new Vehicles. Vehicles driving system is now exact (!) like GTA IV , FireSystem,... this mod is Heavily inspired by GTA, IGI, FarCry.
the camp is now spreaded over three hills, thats the highest part.

Well I played every Far Cry and Far Cry 1 is one of few games which have realistic view distance and view distance in Far Cry 1 is way better than in any other Far Cry but Far Cry 4 have newer engine so it looks better. I personally prefer original Far Cry and with your mod it will be better than Far Cry 4 which will be downgraded (like Far Cry 2, 3 watch dog’s assassin’s creed and more) so I’m not going to buy it.
the problem is the framerate: higher viewdistances cause fps drops. usually u show the maps here with settings ultrahigh, at long viewdistances (you can change the viewdistances in opcl menu if you like), so i mostly have poor FPS (i often have the FPS in screenshot to proof thats it still playable). sometimes a reduced viewdistance is used for art: look the next page with multishots: there you can see at big highs in mountains in clouds i reduce the viewdistance by placing particle fogclouds.
I think that Far Cry 1 have even better view distance that Far Cry 4. At E3 in 2011 Ubisoft show us much better view distance and in 2008 Far Cry 2 have destructible buildings but final product have been completely different. And I doesn’t saying that your graphics is low or something like that. I just want to said that Far Cry 1 have much better view distance than Far Cry 2 or 3. And Far Cry 4 will be downgraded so Far Cry 1 will have still best view distance in my option. And don’t worry about graphics my monitor isn’t even HD and my current resolution is only 1024x768.
i understand! but i tried to explain why a game can be downgraded. the mainproblem is realtime shadow. in farcry1 there is mostly no realtime shadow, and its not needed, because of a baked daytime into a lightmap. but in opcl and farcry2-4 we have real sunmovement and daytimes, so the whole shadow thread is running. that explodes the polycount from around ~600.000 /screen which gaves a FPS of ~ 70 to 1.500.000 which gives a FPS of ~30 . i currently try to compensate this by modeling low poly shadow caster objects for the real big polycount buildings and it helps a little bit. my problem for CE1 is, that i have only ONE thread, that means on my 4 core cpu all the processing is done at one single core and 3 cores are idle. ce2 and above and dunia, the ce1.8 port are multithreaded and can use 3 more cores for shadow calculating. so, theoretically they have MUCH more reserves in viewdistances than i have. btw, Farcry1 have had a viewdistance from 1024m.
in screenshots here i used ~800m, i'm not sure, but you can switch up to 2000m in options menu if you have the power and you can reduce it to 200m if you doesnt have enough power. the screenresolution does not change the polyamount, which is the FPS killer, so even playing on 800x600 does not help in that case.
Well I think that screenshots looks great and it’s really shame that CE 1 can use only one core.
Btw: I almost forgot to say that I killed soldier in first mission with normal weapons (but I use cheat on sniper rifle and flying cheat) and I shot him from 5000 m distance so that’s one thing which I never seen in any game but it’s unrealistic because most sniper rifles have precision shooting to 1km.
in original farcry the sniper bullets are instand death kill rays, in opcl we have real calculated bullet ballistics. so at such distances its totally impossible to kill someone, because he would easily walk away inbetween :D also the gravity would draw down the bullet so you have to aim above head. the bullet also looses power over high ranges and does not do enough damage to kill someone (except with headshot), so you risk simply a alarm. the practicable sniperdistance in devkid/opcl is about 400m max.
That’s good to hear but I think that sniper rifle should be more precise for example not 400m but 800 or 1000m. But still great job.
with 800 or 1000 you could clean up a whole map without getting in touch with a single enemy, the same for enemies who would kill you instantly like in so many farcry mods. i have done a lot of testings with ranges, ballistics and bullet power so i came to this value.
the goal for the whole game is CLOSE COMBAT or CLOSE STEALTH, sniping is allowed, much better than in farcry (because i have bullet and slowmo kill cam ^^), but its not the level clean up weapon which it should be if we compare it with realistic weapon behaviour.
Well it would be much more realistic but very easy and very hard at the same time.
i have to mention that i also scaled down in range all other weapons. in farcy it was possible to clean up all enemy camps with m4 single shot at a big distance. such gameplay is in opcl not possible anymore.
