spended the whole day to create this simple crane-tube rigg and rigged all the single rope/hook/tube things which i need for the riddle, and no, its not shoot down the tubes :D
this was about 2 hours, i needed additionally 6 hours (!) to track down a new horrible memory leak from sandbox editor.
imagine follow situation: all you see, especially in first picture, is made out of the same houndred objects, but every object have a different scale/size and texture. to handle it i grouped things like stairs+rails or metal holder structures/supports for crete walls, which are also was grouped together. then it became necessare to build group of groups and some times i have stagged 3 groups-childs in a master group.
now, in editor mode, the fresh loaded map in lowest quality, need 1.1 gb reserved memory, (to make it short, if this exceed 1.78gb its not possible to save the map anymore).
so, i have started the editor, rotate the cam to sky and could watch the memory fill itself with 1 mb/second. by doing exactly NOTHING. 6hours later i knowed it was the group-thing in editor which sandbox does not like -.- and be sure, my first thought it was my own scripts, and it was a total mess to find this memory leak. ok, after a fresh mapload, i could exactly do about 5-7 new things, like clone a object and give it a new texture... baaaam, 100 mb more wasted, instead of 1.1gb it used now 1.23 gb, but the real memory referencey of a cloned object is about 0.0001 kb ^^ since some days working was not very funny: do 5-7 things, save map ( need about 1 minute), close editor, (another minute!), load editor+map (3 minutes) = 5 minutes waste, sitting speachless infront of my PC. very disturbing work.
ok, finally, ungrouping ALL groups was the solution, now i can work like before and fill up the level with stuff without 5 minute breaks every 2 minutes of work.

ah such things occour every second day. i'm now working exactly 7 years on opcl with sandbox editor and such things comes totaly surprisingly out from nothing, exact in that moment when you think you know really about cryengine and sandbox and how to handle all the thing :D
a detail on work: you see the wooden construct on second picture: i really modelled 3 different versions of the wooden poles just to achieve a non uniform look but its really not possible to recognize that, but it absolutely helps to break up the optical copy&paste; illusion.

Just like BDOS. Luckily I'm still having my old PC so I could write this.

That's a very good work and especially it fits the area!

What did you mean with BDOS?

>That's a very good work and especially it fits the area!

thank you but the credit have to go to the HL2 canal scene mapper, i just have stolen his idea. and the worst thing, the HL2 models looks still better than mines, but i have a short timebudget, for such new things i wont invest more than some minutes each in 3dsmax, otherwise this project will never come to an end :D

Blue screen of death.

I played Half-Life 2 some time ago and I remember that place. I think I have to use some physics there to move to the next area.

there is really such a scene in HL2 ? with a crane and some closed flood doors ? i really build this whole scene complete out ofimagination except the design of the flood doors and the idea of wooden pole construction :)

I don't really remember but I know that there is no crane on 100% and also I know that area is mostly different (look for Half Life 2 water hazard). I'm sorry but I can't give you more info because I don't have time (my HDD broke) and I can't access C drive which had some important things and I had there some mods (which are on the net but I had sorted Fallout mods which take me a long time).

I tried to use Kaspersky Rescue disk yesterday but it didn't work. Meanwhile, I bought a cheap Seagate drive and hopefully that one will work some time (just for one month then I will return it) and later I buy some decent.
