After the player escapes from the I-15 battle with Ranger Vargas and Captain Jameson, they run across the desert with what remains of the NCR Caravan and their Companions.
Jameson takes the player to Union City several miles from the battlezone, where they meet with Senator DuVille and General Silverman. This begins the player's involvement with the NCR.
