Description

To celebrate the 1000th download of the mod. A Brand New Patch! It is not quite as comprehensive as I hoped it would be by this stage. What's New: For those of you who just can't wait we have Legion and Vegas Playable Factions! All the content from Pre-A6 with some repairs. All the new specialists and building work slots. Plus some fixes to the new trait system. (It is still unfinished, but hopefully the repeating popups should be solved.) To Install: Just drag the Fallout-TTW folder into your mod folder and overwrite as prompted. Have Fun!

can you give me more info?

Did something particular pop up with crash?

I have downloaded and installed it several times on my machine and it was fine.

Did you try loading it a few times I sometimes get a random game crash when loading on win 8.1.

Did the base mod work for you, is it just after you patched?

If you are still having problems can you PM me as it is easier to track and resolve the issues that way.

Same goes for anyone else with an issue, it is much easier to track and respond to PMs.

hmmmm....

I know there is a 'function' issue revealed in this patch, but that just highlights a function that is not working, it doesn't cause the game to crash after patch..

Has anyone successfully used the patch?

Like I said I have downloaded and run it successfully a few times..

There is a chance that I have something on my computer that is allowing it to run, but I did check the 'known' circumstances of that and it still seemed to be fine...

Try running it a few times, because sometimes startup with the mod is a bit flaky and I don't know why, 1 time it crashes and the next it is absolutely fine which I have no explanation for..

If the problem persists PM me and we can see if we can find a reason/solution

Ok thanks for that.

Can those with the issue try something for me?

In the main folder there is a folder called DevDLL

Inside that is a file called CVGameCore.dll

Can you move that into the assets folder and let it overwrite

(back up the existing one in assets first, if you don't want to Download again to get that file back. You can just pop it in a folder named anything you like.)

Once done run the mod.

During load you should get an assert message, just click ignore always. Then tell me if the game runs after that or crashes.

Cheers

Damn....

So now we have the very difficult to answer question...

Why does it work for me and not for everyone else?...

I will try to install it on my second computer after lunch and see if I can replicate the issue.

Then see if I can solve it!

Sorry guys

It worked fine for me!?!?!?

The good news is that I do have someone looking at the underlying error, so hopefully that will get solved eventually.

Thank you for being so active. Also, how many guys in your team? I'm just curious, as the amount of works in V.5 alone is very professionally done yet you seems to have some trouble with finding people to fix bugs.

At the moment sort of 2, me plus 1/2 of two other people. :D

I have 1 guy taking a look at the source code to help fix this current bug in the little bit of spare time he has and another guy Clanky (he lurks around here) who does art for units and has also in the past done some 'mass' xml entries for me, which I then go through and finesse the details. He also added the two new leaders/Civs)

At the beginning of the year another guy I mamaged to recruit built the A5 code from scratch. (Putting in everything from previous builds plus adding/modifying/smoothing everything else.

He tends to come and go though. He was around for about 4 months (Built it all in about 2) then has been gone again since the end of spring.
(Now the bugs of his build are appearing as I use more of it :D, sadly he is not hear to help fix them at the moment though)

So really at the moment it is just me.
Due to health issues even small tasks become big headache inducing tasks.

When I had an awesome team (about 10 of us at onr point) we made great strides and I mostly just focussed on design and managing the team. I had ideas and they magically happened. (That was always fun!)

Now it is just me chipping away.

As an example I added a sentence of text(some were even copies) to the 'strategy' text of each unit this week. It took me two days, six hours of work and left me feeling ill.

Clanky did the entire Unit Roster in about the same time! :D

So even simple tasks are very draining for me, the sort of things most people with word processing skills could probably knock out as nothing!

Even having people to discuss the mod with is a big motivator and helps me kkeep my plans straight. Things have been pretty quiet lately though..

Right... Well...

I can't get my copy of civ to work on my 2nd computer...

Don't know if it is windows 10, or my disk, or the patch 3.19 that is the problem, but the game just crashes on loading python....

This has been a thoroughly unenjoyable couple of hours!

Mediafire.com

Ok here is a link to a file to see if this fixes the crash.

it is Civ4traitinfos.xml

and it goes here:
Fallout-TTW/assets/xml/civilizations

let it overwrite.

Anyone that is willing let me know if this solves the CTD

YES!! I can get pass the CTD now. Thank you! \(^o^)/

Not testing in-game yet, will report ASAP.

*EDIT* Oops you seems to left the unfinished Caesar legion in and will cause CTD if i try to select them as starting Civ. Other than that, everything's running smooth atm.

Some bugs:

-Rad Spider turns into a red blob (missing art i think) I can see them normally in V.5 alpha though.

-Playing with 'Infinite traits' and 'Trait never disappear' on in a custom game. After some times into the game i sudden ly got 5 traits in a turn. When i try to review them by mouseover a civ flag i got CTD.

Could you also try without have permanent traits on, that might be causing an issue, though I don't think it would break it just my mousing over the flag..

The flag issue could be connected with the fact that it does not display info about pillage boosting from traits. That could be another reason..

hmmmm....

I am genuinely at a loss to explain all this... it works fine on my computer..

I really cannot understand what I could have on mine that allows it to work compared to everyone else..

It used to be that sometimes it would read across 2 mods, but as far as I know I do not have any other mods that would help this issue.

I think I must have left the giant ant(replacing spider art out of the patch by accident.

I do know I forgot to chagne it's name! I since fixed that in my dev build.

I can't figure out why Caesar is breaking... His art has been in the mod download for ages, we just never activated it. I could understand if Vegas was the one that broke it, because I may have updated his leaderhead art but forgotten to up date it in patch... but not Caesar...

The 5 traits in a turn is intentional, those are part of the (eventual) deep civic system where civics change and become more powerful the longer you use them.

However the crashing is not intentional.

My best guess is that it is linked to the same issue as the initial crash issue. Which is that particular file not handling the mod change of health and happiness as yields. The chieftain trait does not display it's effects properly I think because of a bug in the trait additions we made.(which is being looked at)

None of that explains why it doesn't crash for me... I cannot think of a reason. Especially if it doesn't crash on startup for you anymore...

It is hard for me to know what to do/change/remove as I don't get the crashes in the first place!?!?

I think you're right about Mr.House/New Vegas. His name appear as a string of data path in custom game. He can be normally select though. Caesar on the other hand, doesn't even have his civilopedia page(can be select but with blank page)

Do CIV4 has some sort of crash log? I might be able to send it to you ^_^

There should be logs in the 'my documents' folder under my games or something like that...

I have never been much good at deciphering them though! :D

Chances are I screwed up something extra in packaging the patch. (probably changed a name of the art files or something and never up dated it in the patch version. I am good at doing that sort of thing!)

If you are interested in testing my experiments to see if I can clear up the issues, PM me.
