Fall of Saigon is a Vietnam War modification for the Half-Life 2: source engine. The modification will be based in the realism of the Vietnam War, trying to portray things, events, and places as they actually were. The gameplay will also reflect as much of the realistic feeling as the development team is able to portray. The game will recreate the feeling of the jungle, or place the player in Saigon, or anywhere in between. The player will be emersed in all the sights and sounds of the jungle and will be able to use them to their advantage, and if they're not careful, it could be as dangerous as the enemy. Fall of Saigon Forums

This week we have a special sneak peak of our WIP map Temple. This map will feature dilapidated ruins filled with crumbling stone statues, claustrophobic burial chambers. Set in the lush jungles of Vietnam this temple will be perched high on dangerous which may cause you to slip to your death if the enemy doesn't find you first.

I have a few suggestions:
As mapping goes, would it be possible to make a full scale jungle map where camouflage is the key element? That would be awesome
Also, I wouldn't be sure on how hard it would be to code this, but in a 'hardcore/hard' difficulty setting for mp and/or sp, weapon jamming, waterlogging and instead of using bullets, guns use clips (for instance, reloading no matter how much ammo left, you will lose 1 clip).
And one last one, how about a health system like max payne? Where you get shot in certain areas and different parts are injured (E.g, shot in leg, run slower, in arm you aim slower, chest run slower and can't sprint as long, head=dead)
Just please don't turn this into a black ops, cause that would be horrible D:

All of your suggestions are good ones and it is all up to our coder. We have talked to a second coder who plans to join. If they can code anything that adds to realism, while keeping it fun, we would approve.
We will be announcing a map contest with cash and prizes for jungle maps as soon as we are in Alpha.

I disagree.The US were more effective at air rather than at the ground and from the look of this mod I think you can't have air support.

Also the AK47 was much more superior towards the M16 at this time because of the harsh terrain and how it copes to it.

The US were still able to systematically wipe out almost the entire NVA Bloodnest. Although the AK was a superior weapon, that will not win a war. the US had superior training, all around technology and logistics.

Most US soldies were actually inexperienced as they only fought for one year to fulfill their draft requirement whereas the Vietnamese had been fighting since 194, 0 during WWII resisting Japan, then after the war as the Vietminh fighting against France until 1954 and finally the USA.

Vietnamese have been fighting invaders since the very start of our country, besides, Vietnam is our homeland, so we were kind of superior to the US about tactics. ;)

No weapons will be accurate looking but adjusted for balance so gameplay wont be affected. Teams will have classes (Like ToD, DoD or TFC/TF2).

I made some landmines a while back, though they aren't being used as a weapon, but a way to constrict players in an open field. If I remember, we were talking about deployable mines but you'll have to ask Racer and Mantis to be sure.
