Fall of Saigon is a Vietnam War modification for the Half-Life 2: source engine. The modification will be based in the realism of the Vietnam War, trying to portray things, events, and places as they actually were. The gameplay will also reflect as much of the realistic feeling as the development team is able to portray. The game will recreate the feeling of the jungle, or place the player in Saigon, or anywhere in between. The player will be emersed in all the sights and sounds of the jungle and will be able to use them to their advantage, and if they're not careful, it could be as dangerous as the enemy. Grab a rifle and enlist today.

The stock looks kinda off, angled too far down (unless it's just the render's viewpoint giving some kind of illusion doing that). The render probably doesn't do the model justice. Some of the edges seem like they should be sharper rather than curvy, nice to see some progress though.

i think too much smoothing has been used and that just ruins everything.

I think that's just the view being orthographic that's throwing the proportions off.

What modeling program was this made in?
I'm sure there are smoothing tools unless it's softimage or blender.
(if Mantis is reading this)
In blender just select the faces you want to smooth out and hit Y. It doesn't create a smoothing group but it does seperate those faces from the other faces which makes it look like smoothing groups

In softimage select the edges you wish to make sharp and then right click and click "mark hard edge/vertex" <-- I think it's called that or something similar.

That should help your renders come out nicer.

Nice work btw. Looks very well done.

It is in Blender, there are correct smoothing tools and he did smooth it, but not correctly. I wouldnt suggest the method OGdon said, just smooth it and click the 'auto smooth' option. After this if its still too shiny and weird looking just adjust the degree bar lower to make it look better. This is the best way to smooth in blender.

It's an AK47 model, you won't have a chance to see it close up, and really the only smooth parts are in the front, so you won't be seeing the smooth parts too often

it was made in blender, i used subsurf for parts of it. and then ya its just set to smooth otherwise. I havent dont anything special to smooth it out otherwise. Thank you for the comments and the tips. I will try some of that out and see what happens. it is still a WIP and this isnt even a render, just a screenshot right out of blender.
