Imagine, a Hollywood producer got his hands on the game. The result would be similar to what the Cinematic Mod is: a graphics blockbuster, redesigned to the typical game to movie adaption with an orchestral soundtrack and beautiful people everywhere.

Just great. The mods to characters won't be to everybody's taste, but as for the graphics quality, it doesn't get much better because there is no competition.

After playing Hl2 around 15 times (including CM8 & 10) it was definitely worth playing it again with CM12. The effort put into making every scene look as beautiful as it does right now must have been extraordinary. Most HD-Mods simply concentrate on making some HD-Textures, but in CM12 you get new shaders, models, environment props and completely redesigned 3d-skyboxes, too. Just judging by the amount of content created this could have been a completely new game. Performance has been improved significantly in comparison to CM10 on my PC (hardware specs haven't changed) and I also love the Dynamic Music System, which sometimes makes me feel like I'm Batman :D However, thanks Fakefactory for providing this old experience in a new fancy coat for us.

Some of the character models are very... odd and disproportionate to say the least. However, the extra detail put into not only the textures but also the environment is definitely very impressive and worth a second playthrough of the HL games.

FF mod forgot completely their mission: Remake HL2 with new graphics.

It was doing it well on the first versions, until it started to do weird things to the maps and characters.

Now, is like if it not longer tried to be a decent mod: The ambient is now completely different from the HL2 feeling, is full of props which their placement has no sense, their characters not longer respects the original aspect (for not say the quality of some models, both ugly and terrible), music that it doesn't fit, and much more...

This mod has pulled the best game of 2004 and its graphics up to 2013 graphics and above! :3

The high definition props and NPC models detail amount is amazing.

Effects like lens flare and bloom make things look cool.

Head shots actually instant kill, which adds realism.

NPC models and some other settings can be changed or set to Valve's default, and you have different model choices.

This is just a well worked on modification overall, and the people who don't see the point in having an HD mod can just stay away.

This ought to be renamed "Fakefactory's Pornographic Mod" because that is exactly what this is. The dirty 40something year old man who made this seems to have a peculiar obsession with Alyx and Adriana Lima, as with every iteration of this mod Alyx is turned even sluttier than in the previous version, and is guaranteed to have the face of Lima to complete the sluttiness. And not only was Alyx affected, Mossman and the female citizens/rebels also were "enhanced" by Fakefactory's definition. They have all been turned into some kind of street tramps. Basically, all of the women in this mod look like they were designed by a socially awkward 14 year old with a hormone-infested mind. And the male characters don't look much better either. They all had ****** "enhancements" that make them all look extremely out of place with the Half-Life 2 universe, and some of them look completely retarded. Also, this mod adds ironsights, possibly to cater to the COD fanboys who don't turn away from HL2 the second they see it. Why don't more people realize that ironsights are cliche as **** and done to death? Basically the only redeeming value of this mod is that the mapping is very well-done, and it must have taken a while to get the maps back in working condition after decompiling them; but even then, the god awful character models in the "full experience" completely nullify anything good that this mod has to offer.

Wow... the mediocre score of 7.9/10 is unbelievable. I first played CM11, and now CM12.21. You know what they have in common? They're all virtually perfect.

I didn't even know this was on moddb. Go to their site if you want updates and discussion, since like this page said, there are too many people whining/criticizing about the OPTIONAL HD character models (for which, the females certainly are disturbing). That's one of the best things about this mod: almost everything is OPTIONAL.

HD character replacers, cinematic soundtrack, gun replacers, SMAA injector (only use if your PC is weak and can't handle MSAA or SSAA), many new visual effects, and more are all OPTIONAL. So you can play this mod with only better graphics if you want, or enable all of the optional features for a much more immersive and atmospheric experience.

I can't imagine ever playing HL2 without this mod. Yes it's 30GB, but so what? The torrent is fast enough unless you're a 56k user or something. This mod adds so much to HL2, it's an absolute necessity. It makes the game so much more atmospheric.
