Imagine, a Hollywood producer got his hands on the game. The result would be similar to what the Cinematic Mod is: a graphics blockbuster, redesigned to the typical game to movie adaption with an orchestral soundtrack and beautiful people everywhere.

wow, that's hundreds of time better than the original. Would be nice to see some of the city ruins though.
I prefer the beam on the second one and the forest. it really makes it seem like you have come out all that way. However i do like the darkness of the clouds a lot more on the first.
You should have left the destroyed city, maybe add some detail. Like this it's more realistic, maybe, but has a lot less atmosphere...
You can still see the city, it's just obscured by the trees.
The original one is way better
