I think a fresh perspective on the mapping of this area could help a lot.
This green water could work actually (and is more sewer-like), but you have to texture everything with a greenish hue as well. And make the lighting highlights green as well (possibly bluish).
Some moss/lichen on the walls would be nice, and other stains. Just dirty it up!

Well, I like the changes to the HUD, and the grenade, but...
