I like to announce EVE: RTS (work name) It's a mod about EVE Online developed by myself, featuring ships and other objects directly from the original Game. Models and Textures were extracted using TriExporter. CCP confirmed that I can use their Artwork. (see end of summary)
This was mostly a performance test ... wich lead to a bughunt for a nasty crash
Now all is runnning well and at least 200+ ships can explode at once without any crash ^^
I'm curious now, what caused the crash?
The Crash was caused by an effect of "STYLE_RING" wich had
name = "PointDistance" > -1. Somehow Pointdistance > 1 will result in crash if this effect is used in masses. So you may even get rar crashes in HW2, if you blow up very large Groups of ships wich have wrong values in their effect-files. -.- ... It took me several hours to find this Crash 'Bug'.
