Content Progress

Content is the single biggest task that we will undertake for Act II, and the team has been slowly building Act II out from where Act I left off. Our story begins after the fisherman falls through the rotten floor of an old wood shack, and picks up again where he lands in the rocks below the Arque West facility.

As a team, we have many commitments - some of us have jobs, some of us are studying towards final qualifications. Act I garnered no income, so Act II has always been and will always be a hobby project. A few people have asked us what is happening with Act II, and when it will be finished. In the future we hope to do a better job of communicating those ideas with the community, and we are still working hard on continuing where Act I left off.

Technical Progress

For Act II, we have decided to switch away from the Source Engine, towards Unreal Engine 4. Unreal Engine 4 provides a very flexible platform to author content for a range of platforms, and allows us to realise our plans for Act II. It is updated frequently, and has an active community monitored by its developers which provides technical assistance amongst other great things.

Content authoring for Source Engine wasn't easy, and it was difficult to author more advanced features for Act I without access to the engine code from Valve - which unfortunately for us is not something we can get access to as a free game.

I wanted to ask - when the translations section will be updated? Just before release, or after? On the one hand i don't want spoiling it to myself, but on the other hand i want to translate it as fast as possible.

Right okay. Thanks for the translations so far. Is it okay if I add you on Steam? It will make it easier to co-ordinate translations for the next release. If we can avoid making the script etc public until release that'll be a bonus!

This mod is awesome! The new mechanics and ways to solve puzzles (rocking a chair, throwing rocks at a crowbar etc.) work great, the mod isn't too hard for a noob like me and most importantly, my eyes were nailed to the screen all the time, even when the credits were scrolling I found it hard to get out of the role I just assumed. Only drawbacks are voice acting (which is pretty good still, don't worry) and the short chapters (that have somewhat obvious names). 9.5/10.

We're looking into it. Right now, the 2013 SDK has some issues that we need to be looked at before we're going to think about moving over: Github.com

If that gets fixed, then we will seriously consider it. It will likely take a lot of time though as we've customised so much code, so it's not a decision we're taking lightly.

Do you run Linux out of interest?

yes, I'm on Linux. played the mod on wine, but would like to see a native linux version if at all possible.

I'd be happy to help test it if you'd like. Also, I was able to get the test mods from 2013 compiled and running on linux

Looks like someone from Valve has been assigned to the issue. They're saying that there may be an update with shader support next week. I'll do some exploring on the shader end when that happens.

This was an awesome mod. A few minor things like a crowbar on the ceiling, but i guess thats me not liking a slight challenge, i just spend like 20 mins chucking the rocks at the boards, enjoying the story so far and cant wait till a more complete story comes to light.

Keep up the good work and cant wait for the new weapons coming.

P.S. Im loving them Custom Barrels!
