We're excited to announce that to date, Estranged: Act I has had over 167,000 unique players worldwide since its release in January. We are immensely proud of how Estranged has been received by fans all over the world, with masses of playthrough videos and feedback given to us on the forums and here on ModDB.

Today we'd like to officially confirm that Estranged: Act II is under development, and will be the next instalment in the Estranged series, continuing on from where Act I left off. As we promised in a forum post back in January, we can also confirm that Act II will be a paid-for title.

Join the Team

The Estranged development team is continually looking for volunteers to contribute to the next instalment in the Estranged series, Estranged: Act II. Do you have experience designing levels, creating 3D set pieces or designing characters? We're looking for volunteers to join the project at this exciting stage of development - we would love to see your existing portfolio work with any game engine on any platform.

Just played the beta of this, and man that was awesome! Once this is full finished I'm sure it will be incredible. And I hope to see this get Greenlit.
Only complain I have is the voice acting of the first guy you meet, the voice itself is good, but the acting seems a little lifeless.

P.S. Oh man, those moths were too realistic... lol

The problem why i had that steam error was because i already had the source sdk base 2013. I removed it and installed it again and the game works.

So after playing through the newly released beta, I very much enjoyed Act 1. There were next to no jump scares (something horror mods do all too often), the textures and models were nice, and the level design was pretty and fun. There were some minor issues that could use some touch-ups (AI getting stuck on the environment, hammer hit animation underwhelming) but otherwise a fun play. I'll definitely await excitedly the full release. Excellent work!

Could you check that in your sourcemods/estranged folder, there is an "html" folder, with a "mail" folder inside of it?

Regardless, it may work if you re-install it. Sorry you're having problems!

There is a html folder with a mail folder. All that's in there is some "mail" files, and pictures of cats. (?)

So I need to reinstall it? I suppose another run through won't be a problem to get back to where I am. Might give me a chance to do better against those zombies.

It sounds like the files (and cats ;) are there - would you be able to post the full path to your steam folder? I'm wondering if perhaps you have any special characters in the folder names or something - that might be tripping it up. If we can hone in on what's causing it I can fix it with a patch later this week!

That's great - so it looks like this might be a bug affecting *some* people with 64 bit machines with Steam installed to Program Files which is a bummer (caused by the " (x86)" in the path there). I will test and patch it later this week. Sorry about that :(

This was an awesome mod. A few minor things like a crowbar on the ceiling, but i guess thats me not liking a slight challenge, i just spend like 20 mins chucking the rocks at the boards, enjoying the story so far and cant wait till a more complete story comes to light.

Keep up the good work and cant wait for the new weapons coming.

P.S. Im loving them Custom Barrels!
