We're excited to announce that to date, Estranged: Act I has had over 167,000 unique players worldwide since its release in January. We are immensely proud of how Estranged has been received by fans all over the world, with masses of playthrough videos and feedback given to us on the forums and here on ModDB.

Today we'd like to officially confirm that Estranged: Act II is under development, and will be the next instalment in the Estranged series, continuing on from where Act I left off. As we promised in a forum post back in January, we can also confirm that Act II will be a paid-for title.

Join the Team

The Estranged development team is continually looking for volunteers to contribute to the next instalment in the Estranged series, Estranged: Act II. Do you have experience designing levels, creating 3D set pieces or designing characters? We're looking for volunteers to join the project at this exciting stage of development - we would love to see your existing portfolio work with any game engine on any platform.

If you are interested in joining the team, please email volunteer@iamestranged.com. Be sure to include existing examples of your work, and any projects you have worked on previously.

played it and the only thing i really disliked so far is the lack of story. so far you can only guess whats happend and there were not even some minor hints whats going on. in terms of gameplay, graphics, atmosphere and voice acting the game is spot on( at least in my opinion)

Finally got around to playing this.

Great atmosphere, but that's really all this had.

The zombies were not at all threatening, and they only legitimately scared me once and that was when they first popped up.

The only other highlight of me playing this was the last sequence. It was an extremely large and bizarre difficulty jump and I very-much do not look forward to stuff like that in the future parts. Not saying the fighting was bad, but it was just the ridiculous difficulty. The majority of the time spent on this was on that last part. It was extremely frustrating.

I do like where the story is going, though. I look forward to that at least.

All-in-all, this is definitely worth playing, if you can excuse that difficult jump (I BARELY can). But it certainly needs more polish and probably some balance tuning.

7/10.

Good mod. Somewhat glitchy, but mostly nothing gamebreaking (apart from being able to throw the crates over the fence outside of that first guy's house, even though you NEED the crates). I personally did not feel any suspense or horror most of the time while playing this, but it's well-made, fun to play and has some funny subtle jokes in it. Maybe a bit too linear even though there were some obvious potential areas that seemed like they'd be fun to explore but just have invisible walls blocking them.

Meh, for me this mod has really nice level design, but lacks such basic thing as AI.

Nice mod, really loved the sense of desolation. Mapping was good too with refreshing variety between outdoor and indoor segments. The whole thing felt polished too.

Is there a way to get the script that makes the motion blur more noticeable? (In Estranged even someone simply walking past you can have a motion blur, and it looks cool.)
I want to try to put the effect in other Source games. (I won't upload it anywhere, I'll just use it for personal use of course.)
So is there a folder or txt or something that contains the script for the effect?

Hello, this is actually done by manipulating the mat_motionblur console variables.

This was an awesome mod. A few minor things like a crowbar on the ceiling, but i guess thats me not liking a slight challenge, i just spend like 20 mins chucking the rocks at the boards, enjoying the story so far and cant wait till a more complete story comes to light.

Keep up the good work and cant wait for the new weapons coming.

P.S. Im loving them Custom Barrels!
