We're excited to announce that to date, Estranged: Act I has had over 167,000 unique players worldwide since its release in January. We are immensely proud of how Estranged has been received by fans all over the world, with masses of playthrough videos and feedback given to us on the forums and here on ModDB.

Today we'd like to officially confirm that Estranged: Act II is under development, and will be the next instalment in the Estranged series, continuing on from where Act I left off. As we promised in a forum post back in January, we can also confirm that Act II will be a paid-for title.

Join the Team

The Estranged development team is continually looking for volunteers to contribute to the next instalment in the Estranged series, Estranged: Act II. Do you have experience designing levels, creating 3D set pieces or designing characters? We're looking for volunteers to join the project at this exciting stage of development - we would love to see your existing portfolio work with any game engine on any platform.

If you are interested in joining the team, please email volunteer@iamestranged.com. Be sure to include existing examples of your work, and any projects you have worked on previously.

I can see through everything unless it has a light on it, besides props. I can see props fine. It's annoying because on the first Chapter, when the boat crashes, I can't see the bridge, just the ladders, docked boats, and blah blah blah props. Can somebody help me? Oh, and P.S. The first room you go in, at the end of the bridge, it has lights in it and I can kind of see the walls and floor with the lights shining on it.

Are you the guy I spoke to via email? Anyway, if you weren't, for you and anyone else with this issue - it's a problem with the version that still exists on Desura. The latest versions on ModDB and the www.iamestranged.com are unaffected.

Pull up a chair, and I'll explain...

When we released, we released with rc (release candidate) 4, and then patched that to rc 5 a few days later when we found out some ATI users were hitting the bug you're talking about. We updated the mod on all distribution platforms *except* Desura, and that's where the bug is still apparent.

I will get around to it at some point, I just have so much to do right now, and fiddling with Desura for about 2 hours (working out how to use the site again, getting the version downloaded that I need to patch, creating the patch, uploading it, checking it works, playing through again) isn't near the top of the list.

I can only apologise that you hit this bug in the first place, and rest assured, it's not forgotten!

I played it through but I decided to reserve my opinion till the final product, I felt that the zombies where rather easy, and their appearances where not significant. The level design was pretty good though and I liked that there was some progression and less focus on "being an action hero" instead just trying to survive. Its the sort of game that could use some pointers though from L4D's number of zombies, or NMRiH's focus on collecting the right ammo, and supplies, so managing carry weight and making each shot count. The game needs something to revitalize its stale gameplay. Some team members should be dedicated to working on just that. Just my 2 cents.

Instead of the HL2 Leaches taking away your health the further out of the map you go how about stamina where if you're in the water for too long you run out of energy and get submerged? That would tie right into the story and make more sence as the infection is spread by the water.

But then again I think that it might be too much and might take attention away from more important things in the mod, but it's just an idea.

We've got some ideas for the cliffside which involves you simply falling to your death because of a whole bunch of shore rocks. The sea water isn't infected though. It's why John Hutman is doing fine in the first place because he filters the sea water.

Well I think drowning would be a better way to die than the leaches in the starting map, but it's just an idea.

This was an awesome mod. A few minor things like a crowbar on the ceiling, but i guess thats me not liking a slight challenge, i just spend like 20 mins chucking the rocks at the boards, enjoying the story so far and cant wait till a more complete story comes to light.

Keep up the good work and cant wait for the new weapons coming.

P.S. Im loving them Custom Barrels!
