As July brings an end to school, August brings the end of development.
It is with great pleasure I announce the official release date for Escape The Room - Friday the 13th
ERmod has become much more than initially intended. It is now truly the intense and claustrophobic experience I have advertised. It's been a good long time in development, I know you will all be pleased with the results.



Some highlights to look forward to:

-A plot!
-Voice acting!
-Many more challenges!

I absolutely loved this game play style. It actually makes you think about how you have to do something such as use the knife to cut the rope and some of the other puzzles in the maps. I just was hoping I could have more when it was over, which is a good thing since I’ll probably be back to try this out
One thing I didn't like was that I saw a trash can, and like any Escape The Room type games, there is usually one thing in there. I did notice the trash and said to myself "there has to be something in there" and proceeded to dig threw it like a mad garbage jumper but nothing within any of the trash cans. Maybe you could put a key or Easter Egg in one or something to add to the game.
And on another note, I saw these random spray paint images on the walls that said up. Did that have any purpose, or was it just for look?

Both up spraypaints gave hints as to what you were supposed to do: the first one showed you there was a hole in the ceiling, while the second one helped point out the tiny hook on the wall vent.

Looks like Room Escape has some competition?

This demo was short but fun. Not as difficult as was touted. Remove the bugs and you will have something interesting.

I wish puzzles were more complicated. Demo version is too easy. Also, I felt uncomfortable without flashlight in the first room.

Could you remodel the crowbar into a knife on the last map of the demo? It makes it seem more realistic when you pick up the knife. Can u add another melee weapon and put it as the crowbar.
(If you see "NEW" at the top im not really new i forgot my other pass for my other account. I made a portal map called testchmb_a_20.)

Thanks for your life story,
this isn't a portal forum.
Adding a custom knife model would make the solution much too obvious.

Tommygun, some great work here. It's a pretty good sign as to where your future projects will be headed. I thought the level design was very well thought out and meticulous. I liked the high number of interactive objects as well. The puzzles were pretty good as well but just a couple things about them.

*Spoiler, I guess*

In my opinion, the water that came out of the pipe didn't fill the room quite fast enough. Having it slowly fill it was realistic and cool, but it was slow enough that I considered making a sandwich while I waited. In the bathroom, I liked the idea of the whole hook thing, but it was somewhat difficult to get the hook onto the vent. Also, in the last puzzle I didn't feel that it was obvious enough that you should use the knife to cut that rope. I mean, I really liked the idea, but feel that the presence of the crowbar kind of threw me off the reasoning of using a separate object to cut the rope.

*End Spoilers... I guess*

I would have also liked more of a sense that you are playing a character. Like if some text or something would appear saying "What is this place" or something. But anyway, I feel like you are going in the right direction with what you made.

I didn't see the statement "storyline will be implemented in coming versions" in the news section before, So I guess my very last criticism is pretty much null then.

Hey man, thanks for the support and feedback!
I've re-made the hook system a few times, and this way is the least bugg-y.
Personally I like the slowly filling water, watching people play and seeing them freak out is quite entertaining. Besides, if you know where you intend to go, get a chair and climb up old fashion style.
Yes the knife deal isn't that obvious, yet you still figured it out. I think I'll leave that one.
Keep watching this space, I plan on making another 5 or so maps, with included story.

The knife cutting the rope thing is really the only thing I have an issue with in retrospect. I'm just saying, perhaps you could find a way to take away the crowbar? Either way, looking forward to the finished product.
