WHY: I, personally am tired of endless corridor games. Sometimes you get the illusion of freedom, but even in games like GTA 4, there is all kinds of linear crap. You're forced to do missions in a set order and in a set way. A lot of the time, certain "boss" enemies are invincible until the moment you're supposed to kill them. Yes it's more cinematic and helps the story, but it's very boring and un-immersive a lot of the time. This mod is my answer to this problem.

WHERE:
The mod will take place on a tropical island, similar to the one featured in Crysis. Also like Crysis, the North Koreans make an appearance as antagonists. However, this is where the similarities end.

WHO: You play a man that has escaped from NK custody and is trying to make it off of the island chain he is currently stuck on. You have no nano-suit, weapons, or allies, although some of those things can be acquired along the way.

WHAT: This is not a mod where you will be an unstoppable death machine, and has no relation to Crysis, except for the engine and assets used. The main and only objective is to survive and escape the island. Unlike most first person games, the majority of the game is spent evading enemies, instead of engaging them. If you're forced to fight, planning and tactics will be necessary, else you're likely to just get killed. Taking on large groups of enemies or armoured vehicles is pretty much suicide.

HOW: Escape is focused on a semi-realistic survival and exploration experience. You need to find food regularly to stay alive. Also, vehicles will require gasoline to function, so a part of the game will be not only finding the escape vehicle, but also fueling it.

I've made quite a lot of progress on Escape: Sierra Leone recently, and I think I can finally estimate a time when a public Alpha will be available. I'm hoping for some time in late April, although it could be another month or two. I stick to the "it's done when it's done" policy, as that provide the best quality. I'm still busy at my other jobs, working about 60 hours a week in real life, but I'm trying to cut down a bit to get this one out the door sooner rather than later.

It's good to finally be seeing the proverbial "light at the end of the tunnel" with the game, especially with all the real life stuff that has delayed me. Sure it's only the alpha release, but it'll let me know how I'm, doing, what works and what doesn't.

sorry i'm back, but recently i have run into a graphical issue. the clouds are colored like a rainbow and they are flashing, when i hit the console key, it is flashing like crazy, so it is hard to read. what i WAS able to read was this

any ideas on how to fix it? i have played for about 2 hours with no problems and now this happens. also note that i redownloaded and reinstalled this several times, but it did not fix it.

That´s a typical Crysis bug - GFX driver doesn´t get loaded propper.
Restart your game, only thing helping here. Good thing is that it doesn´t happen very often.

Restart your PC or delete everything in the folder docs/my games/crysis/shaders or use the default settings of your graphics driver settings.

If not even youtube videos work, I'm not really surprised that Crysis is having trouble. The video seems to show exactly what you described, though, try googling it.

video depicts my problem, but it only happens on your mod, the regular game is not affected. on a side note firefox is acting up because of adobe, so no more firefox until they fix it....which they wont im sure, newest version is screwing everyone over

Hmmm, try setting all your settings to lowest, see if that changes things?

2. the clouds are completely taken out on lowest.

its obviously just a texture problem, because i have rebooted the game at least 10 times and tried different things every time, and the clouds/console were flashing different colors every time as well

Might look like ****, but if it runs without graphical issues, it speaks volumes about the graphics card you have. Maybe your drivers need updating, or you need to tone down the settings a tad? My mod does have a bit more stuff in it than the average Crysis map, that said, the assets and engine are unchanged from the vanilla game

i played this mod for 2 hours without problems, then a random one occured and stayed. my bet is that it is the mod itself, it is refusing to load the texture

I don't think you quite understand, the mod uses the CryEngine 2 (totally unmodified), and 99% unmodified Crytek assets. The only difference is that my level is slightly larger than the ones in the games, hence it may take slightly more processing power. Have you played the vanilla game for over 2 hours recently?

I'd suggest googling this issue, as it's not because of my mod. My suggestion would be to clear your shader cache and update your GPU drivers. Also, tone down graphic settings slightly to reduce strain.

Since you have steam, try this:

1.go to your crysis folder, then open up the "Game" folder
2.delete "SharderCache.pack, Shader.pack, and Texture.pack"
3. Go to steam and verify the game cache, which will re-download those files

This worked for me when i had rainbow clouds

1. Can you run regular crysis w/o lag?
2. Did you install it to the "Bin32" folder?
3. Does this happen with regular crysis?
4. System specs?

The most fun I have had with a mod in quite some time! I have never been this scared and cautious in Crysis before as when I was playing this mod. Make one mistake and you might have a 15 min hike through the island ahead of you.. again.
