Sins of a Solar Empire is often described as a 4XRTS game, or a game that tried to merge the action and tactics packed gameplay of a Real time strategy game with the deep, complex, empire wide strategy of a 4X turn based game. It's up to debate whether Sins succeeded in this goal, but I think all can agree that of the 4Xs of "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate", Sins is much more focused on the exterminate than on the others. This mod seeks to give more depth to the other 3Xs of the game by adding additional game elements or refining the existing ones to reward players who give more strategic thought to the non-combat side of the game. Combat will still be the center point of the game, but players will find that the non-combat options available will be much more rewarding. Spying, exploring, sabotage, diplomacy, culture, and economic development have all been added or changed in innovative new ways. Regardless of what you think Sins is, this is the 4XRTS it should have been.

I already had the pirate capitalship made, I just decided to convert it to a sort of neutral hero unit anyone could recruit. So a bit of both. :p

The model is another hybrid by SZ0, I wanted a pirate Marza but sadly he doesn't seem to have made one. :p

Description

Sorry for the lack of updates folks, but real life and rumors of a new Rebellion DLC have made it all to easy to procrastinate modding time away. Regardless, progress does continue on some more pirate content.

Pirate's may not be the brightest nor the most organized of men, but they do have their moments. Many pirate captains have commandered TEC capitalships over the years by waiting to ambush overconfident Akkan battlecruisers who thought the pesky militia were all they had to worry about. After forcing the surrender of the ship and dumping the colonists and crew on planet, each pirate captain then applies many modifications to their vessels, improving weapons, removing crew quarters for loot vaults and pleasure chambers, and all sorts of other upgrades. However, the lack of high quality maintenance means some systems like shields may suffer.

In addition to guarding pirate bases and leading the largest pirate raids, pirate Captains can be recruited by enterprising commanders who take over a pirate base. Here they essentially act as an additional hero unit, with one available per pirate base. Once the pirate captain has been destroyed, other factions will have a chance to recruit one at that pirate base.
