Sins of a Solar Empire is often described as a 4XRTS game, or a game that tried to merge the action and tactics packed gameplay of a Real time strategy game with the deep, complex, empire wide strategy of a 4X turn based game. It's up to debate whether Sins succeeded in this goal, but I think all can agree that of the 4Xs of "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate", Sins is much more focused on the exterminate than on the others. This mod seeks to give more depth to the other 3Xs of the game by adding additional game elements or refining the existing ones to reward players who give more strategic thought to the non-combat side of the game. Combat will still be the center point of the game, but players will find that the non-combat options available will be much more rewarding. Spying, exploring, sabotage, diplomacy, culture, and economic development have all been added or changed in innovative new ways. Regardless of what you think Sins is, this is the 4XRTS it should have been.

downloaded and installed the mod but when i pick a map and then try to select a race it mini-dumps. tried it with various map sizes and it dumps. if i do everything random and dont try to select a race, then the game starts as usual. i have deleted the file and downloaded it and re-installed but it has not solved the issue

Hey Im running this and a proportion of the mini mods and i get near constant CTD's when I try to play, any suggestions?
Does it happen without minimods?
If you can start a game and it crashes at random, best thing to try is lowering your graphics settings (or using Large Address Aware if you want to look into that. A lot of the big total conversion mods require it).

Hi, absolutely brilliant mod; I couldn't believe how much it added to all aspects the game, from visuals to gameplay.
However, I have encountered a fairly major bug. Aside from the initial asteroid that spawns beside your home planet, all asteroids in the game (on my custom-made maps, I haven't checked the pre-made maps yet) are marked as uncolonizable, with no option to research it away. Is there any way I could make my own fix to this, or will you release some sort of hotfix?
Anyway, thanks for the rest of the mod. I hope it continues to be supported!
Turns out this is only an issue on the "Competitive" maps. Standard maps should have colonizeable asteroids. I will be fixing it in the next release, but if you know how to convert Sins files you can make the fix yourself.
Hi and gratz for your fantastic efforts.
That said i want to ask you(or any1 else) if i am the only one that cant finish a single (big battle)I have tried everything (laa,reduce all settings etc) but whenever there's full fleets engagement soon the game just goes unresponsive,everything just freezes.
I have tried in 2 pc's with more than enough specs,normal fleet sizes small-medium maps
I use the expanded research,Enhanced AI and non-Vasari Phase Gate and of course Enhanced 4X Mod 1.75 in correct order.On vanilla i could have late game lag on huge worlds but not that kind of freeze in big battles.
Please any help would be appreciated cause it drives crazy i cant play such awesome mod.

I have two different games for you.Just let them run,its before the battles start.Also i have the enabled mods included(not exactly the same for both but still works)
Since my last post i tried also interregnum,with only SW factions,no problems there.

I have pretty much the same problem as you have with this mod:
I have normal fps until all factions get above roughly 1/2 of their fleet cap used (on games with normal fleet sizes), at that point fps gets a little choppy.
When I set literally everything down to the lowest graphics settings, and disable other things that use up RAM, performance improves slightly until fleets get built up a bit more. When they do, and engage one another, the game starts to get choppy again. When this happens, and when I have no more settings to turn down, the game grinds to an absolute standstill within minutes.
It never crashes or anything, it will just gradually slow to single digit fps, and eventually stop, with maybe a jitter or two of movement every 20 seconds or so.
I am using LAA, btw. Not sure hoe the game behaves without it; I'm guessing a lot worse.
