The Enduring Freedom project is aiming to bring realistic combat simulation to the GEM 2 engine and is focused on the units involved in the initial coalition combat ops during Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan (Special Forces, 10th Mountain Div, and 101st Airborne). Conventional warfare will be presented as well. Project features and info can be located in the news section.

Just a quick pic of Zlatorogs model exported into the GEM engine. Texmods to come as well as the tank nicknames on barrels. TUSK version exported but I need to finish the placeholder texture. 120mm round types to be modelled and textured soon.

Looking awesome. Can't wait to load some SABOT in that 120mm and shred some enemy tanks like paper bags.

Since When did the Taliban have tanks to begin with.

The Taliban are likely to have tanks, after the Russians left Afghanistan they left a large number of tanks and other vehicles such as migs and apc's but since they lack the knowledge of how to use them there is very little chance of them ever using them against us, however if one was to figure out how to operate them im sure that they would teach others and attempt to use them against us.

Besides look at the predator drone they stole.. its a possibility they get it back up or figure out how to work it.

There's also the issue of maintaining the tanks. While Russian/Soviet military stuff is very durable, the lubricants and fluids throughout any vehicle break down over time and greatly hinder performance and even cause damage when the vehicle is run.

I don't think the Taliban or any of it's splinters have the means of getting the fuel and oil and other greases to the tanks, let alone would they be able to take it apart and put it back together properly (most people can't even change the oil in their cars)

Looks extra sexy Wilson!, The terrain looks out of place though, just color wise IMO, I dont recal much on earth that color unless its cloudy out, In which case, shouldnt the tank be darker? I know MoW's lighting can adjust that

Either way, I think you should make a screen shot of the US advancing on a taliban stronghold

You still got the air support you made earlier?

Yes I agree, the terrain textures need color correction. The enviromental sets should be considered placeholder tests. The diffuse color lighting in the env set I used for that pic must have been out of whack. Is it just me or is it kinda weird that GEM doesnt have one global diffuse color for all things instead of having unique diffuse color for player infantry, allied humans, enemy humans, player armour, allied armour etc? Would they not all be affected by one global diffuse color based on sunlight/moonlight? Will have to get some action shots up soon.

You know I dont mess around with the lighting much in the editor, but from what Ive noticed, its very hard to get it "perfect" lighitng, Ive had a hard time wondering why they'd bother making it seperate like that, just means more work for everyone
Well Maybe in GEM 3 it'll be better

But then again for all I know there maybe be a "hidden" global diffuse color.
