Empires is a mod for Half-Life 2 which will combine the genres of real-time strategy and first person shooter. Each team has four classes to choose from (scout, rifleman, grenadier, and engineer) with unique weapons and skills each. One player will become the commander by entering the team's command vehicle to build the team's base and lead his team to victory. Once your base is built up, purchase vehicles from your team's vehicle factory to open up another facet of Empires' gameplay. Vehicles can be customized with unique weapons, armor, and engines. The commander can research improvements to all aspects of vehicles such as longer range cannons, homing missiles, and armor-piercing machine gun rounds. Once your team is prepared, lead an assault into the enemy base. The enemy team is defeated when all players are wiped out with either no place to respawn or no reinforcements remaining or the team's command vehicle is destroyed.

We've uploaded a new site redesign for Empires mod which includes completely new media showcasing our progress and a vast array of new information. This will update an Empires 2.0 server to 2.1. Empires 2.0 server is required.
This will install Empires 2.1 for Linux or Windows servers. Empires 2.0 is not required.
This will patch Empires 2.0 to 2.1. 2.0 is required.
This will install Empires 2.1 and does not require Empires 2.0.

You have to keep in mind that NS isnt a true RTS/FPS (seriously Hives? Commchair? Skulks? what is that sh*t) we are actaully modeled after the game battlezone 1 & 2, you guys remember that game... it was great because no-one thought "you know i think it would be cool to mix rts and fps". So we came up with that idea for a completely diffrent game and we moved. Why? because the @^%holes that made Battlefield 1942 had the bright idea to allow it to be modable with... wait for it... PEARL which is the coding used for doing websites infact moddb uses pearl. which is why you sould never go and make a mod for a game made by EA because of their infinate wisdom of EA... we moved... To a real game that ran on a real coding lagnauge.
Longstory short THIS IS NOT.. I'll repeat that.. THIS IS NOT and NS rip-off...

you are wrong about the dev. dat for NS an Empires since Empires for BF1942 first was anouncedon planetBF March, 2003 an NS have existed sice 2001 but yet i wont call it a ripoff since empires i going to be total drifrent game fom ns

Suprize. This isn't a NS ripoff... Infact the one for bf 1942 came out before NS had even started to be made.

I'm going to clarifiy a few things for everyone. Only to prevent confusion
1. No Aircraft will not be in our first public release, and IT IS player controlled. The aircraft you saw in the trailer were an effect in the map.
2. Krenzo has said they empires will not have A.I. Put in for a very long... long time...

3. Yeah the team has been trying to keep Empires under the radar to prevent lots of hype. Well.... Except now.

I'm fairly certain there was some reference to AI on their main page, might have just been the turrets though. And regarding the dropships, I can only assume those are PC controlled, as there aren't that many human PC pilots I can think of that can cooperatively fly in formation like that.
this blows me away ive heard about games like this but never actually seen one quite this impresive! u guys own i cant wait to play this mod ! garrys mod is fun because u can make bases and then battle people with some of the weapons from the game but this is jsust insane! hope that the dedicated or player created server works for lan partys unlike gmod! overall impression A+++++++++++++++++++++ cant wait!!!

It was a human. I don't think they'll implent A.I coding in the game itself. The whole game is team based.
