Elder Kings is an Elder Scrolls themed total conversion for the Paradox Development Studio game Crusader Kings 2. It allows players to live out their dreams of ruling one of the great realms of Tamriel and leading their dynasty through it's various eras and challenges. While still effectively a Work-In-Progress Project, Elder Kings still offers one of the biggest gameplay experiences available for a released CK2 mod!
Overall, it is a 10 for me, but there are areas that need fixing. For me, I have a good amount of lag, not too much causing it to crash, but enough to cause the the hogher speed functions to slow some. And my only other problem is, by what I see, there is no way to prevent or even survuve the Knahatan Flu epidemic that happens later in the game. Other than those, this would be an almost perfect mod for the game.
Great fun, lots of things already in the game.
When i read about the magic system, i was a bit cynical and thought it would be very bad, but so far, iv'e liked it.
All it needs is more flags for the counties/duchies and more bookmarks, such as Tiber's conquest & Oblivion Crisis. Skyrim's civil war too!
A total immersion mod that is as equally ambitious as the other map-changing mods. It sucks that there are a few things missing, but that doesn't matter.
Let me give you a few things:
There are a lot of choices the SECOND you choose a country and get through the character creator, or if you just select a character and get into it. From raising your own levies and travelling to a certain county with a certain religion, then there's this cool choice of you able to change to that religion, since, technically, your character is the captain of the army that's in the province. BOOM. Cult of Sheogorath from Morrowind, or even a Maruhkati worshipper.
There IS a lot of new stuff with the patch, aside from the removal of the Mothist Heresy, Cult of Emperor Zero, and a few other religions and titles.
STILL a good ol' ten outta ten. Best gayme.
Really good mod, played it for ages! It has bugs and issues but what total conversion styled mod doesn't?
Although it is starting die, regardless of what the people who haunt it's subforum say. (Who are jerks btw, don't go there unless you want snarky comments) it's been over a year now since it's last release and hasn't been updated since.
You can always revert your CKII, but then newer DLCs don't work. Honestly, stick to mods that update like GoT.
The scope of the project is amazing and the accuracy of the bookmark to the lore is quite well maintained. The game play differences change the emergent properties of the experience enough to make the fantasy of Elder Scrolls come to life within the Crusader Kings 2 engine. Overall hours and hours added to CK2 play experience.
