Mornamarth, the Steward of Carn Dûm

Greetings, Companions of Edain!

As the Witch-king began to spread his power across the North and establish the kingdom of Angmar, not all Dunedain rose to oppose him. The kingdom of Arnor had long been in decline and fractured into the three successor kingdoms of Arthedain, Cardolan and Rhudaur centuries before Angmar was founded. Rhudaur especially, the smallest and weakest of these realms, had long been an enemy to Cardolan and even went to war against them to claim the Palantir of Amon Sûl. So when the Witch-king rose to dominance, some of the Dunedain of Rhudaur saw in him an opportunity: a strong leader to reclaim their greatness of old, one to establish their dominance over Arthedain and Cardolan at last. The Witch-king in turn was eager to sway them to his side, for they were much greater in strength of arms and mind than the Orcs and Hillmen.

Over the centuries, these fallen Dunedain rose to become the elite of Angmar, forming the peak of its society and armies and raising mighty castles in the frozen tundra while the lesser races toiled in their huts and camps. Elsewhere, this might have lead to strife and unrest, but the iron fist of the Witch-king holds these disparate peoples together, always vying for his favor and eager to share in his power. One such is Mornamarth, the current steward of Carn Dûm.

Mornamarth

He has gained this position through ruthless ambition, eliminating all who stood in his way and proving his cunning and strength to the Witch-king. In return, he has received great authority among the Men of Carn Dûm and has even been tutored in dark sorcery - though not nearly to the same extent as the High Sorcerer Gulzar and the fanatically loyal Zaphragor. The Witch-king knows well that while Mornamarth is a great asset, he is not truly loyal to anyone and is best kept on a short leash. For his part, Mornamarth burns to rule Angmar himself one day, but for now he bides his time and builds his power by destroying Angmar's enemies.

He brings the following abilities to the field:

- Level 1: Lust for Power (passive) - Mornamarth draws strength from his soldiers, gaining increased damage the more Men of Carn Dûm are nearby.

- Level 2: Blood and Iron - For a short time, Mornamarth's attacks unleash a torrent of blood, damaging all enemies in the vicinity. This damage is increased by Lust for Power, but every strike also harms all Men of Carn Dûm giving strength to Mornamarth.

- Level 4: Dark Brand - Mornamarth brands a bataillon of Men of Carn Dûm, draining their strength to empower others. The afflicted bataillon loses 40% armor, but all Men of Carn Dûm in their vicinity deal 40% more damage. The branded bataillon can be sacrificed at any time to restore Mormanarth to full health.

- Level 7: Edict of Carn Dûm - A chosen Hall of the King's Men can now recruit Men of Carn Dûm at half the regular cost.

- Level 10: Reckless Onslaught - Men of Carn Dûm in a small area temporarily become invulnerable and gain +100% damage. However, they automatically die after the ability ends.

As you can see, most of Mornamarth's abilities are a double-edged sword, granting great power, but always at a cost to your own army. He is not a hero who fights well on his own, but uses his Men as a resource to fuel his personal strength. This makes him a powerful, but challenging hero who has to be used wisely - much like the ambitious, but treacherous servant he is meant to represent. We hope you'll enjoy using him to bring low your enemies!

And if you liked this update, as always we'd be honored if you would consider giving us your vote for Mod of the Year 2015! Keep in mind that votes by registered accounts count a lot more.

It seems you really like this guy that you created an entire... err... fanfiction concerning him :) I find his abilities very interesting and very useful. I'll definitely enjoy using him! :)

All other Angmar heroes have a much bigger fanfiction around them. :D Dûrmarth, Gúlzar and Zaphragor have really long background stories.^^
But yeah... we like him. :)

He looks amazing, truly what I would expect a fallen Knight/Lord to look like: noble but dark, courageous but perverse.

Great new system just a little cautious about how his final power will work and if it'd be worth it

he looks so cool , thank you edain team , btw why you have chosen to make morgomir human and gave him a new name instead of make him a black ghost like The Witch-King with some armors ? i dont mind what you did Actually , i like him , I was just wondering ^^

Well, they didn't like the idea of having a named nazgul besides WK and Khamul so they renamed him and made him a living human.

what is wrong with that ? all of them are servants to sauron , The Witch-King has his own army and he is the master of all the nine , its nice to see one of them at least under his command in his faction .

I theory, yes, it indeed is nice to see other Nazgul in Angmar, but I believe it's cause of the uniqueness of the factions; Mordor already has Nazgul. Also, it would probably be mentioned in the Appendix that Nazgul were in the armyy of Angmar. And if I'm correct, the Nazgul were in Minas Morgul OR Dol Guldur at that time, occupied with things in South and East :) I never liked Morgomir's design from RotWK, since (just like Lord_of_Mordor said) he was more of a comedic character and I could never get him seriously as the game suggests.

We just didn't like the Morgomir character very much. His voice was more comical than menacing and his face was a caricature of how the Nazgûl looked *in the spirit world*, but for some reason he always looked like that normally. And of course there were no named Nazgûl in the books besides Khamûl anyway. We felt that Angmar would be better served with a normal human commander of the Men of Carn Dûm.

i understand your point , but there is no problem if there were no named Nazgûl in the books besides Khamûl becouse there is so much made up characters(mormorath him self) , if you make him a black ghost like other nazgul and give him a suited voice , and some armors , i think he will be a lot more better , i also agree about "a normal human commander of the Men of Carn Dûm" it also fit in angmar , but what about making both , morgomir is The Witch-King right arm and mormorath(or any other name) is a commander of the Men of Carn Dûm , its Your decision after all , i am just trying to help , i will be happy with any thing you do ^^

I for one am glad Morgomir is gone.i always found his inclusion more of a plot device than actually making sense to the story. There is nothing that Morgomir added to Angmar that Mornamarth can't also do. Besides, adding more Black Numenoreans is never a bad thing, right?

I'm ok with Morgomir being replaced with a more likely character to be there, but Rogash was fun. Either way, Angmar's history is so long that no living character could survive for the whole thing. I'm just imagining this is another period of it. :)

If so I torally supporr your motivew because (if I have my lore correct) Morgormir was yet another made up Ea character and was supposed to be a nazgúl even though he didnt even look like one.
