Edain 4.2.1 Demo Released

Today, Patch 4.2.1 for the Demo of Version 4.0 has been published. You can download it directly with the launcher, just use the update function.
If you don't have Edain 4.0 installed yet, just click on the banner below to download the demo. Note that you'll still have to update this version through the launcher to bring it up to version 4.2.1 and unlock the Elves.

Patch 4.2.1 continue to expand the faction Lothlorien, which was published for the last patch 4.2. In addition to some mechanical changes, this update is devoted mainly to the elimination of errors and improve some aspects of balance.
The following changes have been made:
- The AI acquires and uses now spellbook spell of the first row. Moreover, destroyed citadels should now be rebuilt.
- Lothlorien has now instead of Cloudbreak the spellbook spell Elbereth Gilthoniel. The concept has been developed by our community and we liked it very much!
- Chanteuse have an independent selection system whereby they are easier to handle.
- Various new Sounds have been involved, such as Sam's For Frodo. Here, too, we want to thank our community!
In addition, there are a number of balance changes:
- Costs of Lorien forge and sanctuary reduced to 650, Galadhrim-Quartier reduced to 750
- Costs of safe haven reduced to 1000, cost of camouflaged mist to 500
- Increased recharge time of Thranduil mobilization by 30%
- Revised armor of bow-sword-hybrids (less vulnerable to arrows)
- Curstomized the trample damage of every rider hero
- Beorn and Grimbeorn weakened, and involved the same transformation properties as the Beornings
- Beornings:
* Can be ridden in human form
* Cost increased to 450, CP 60
* Cost of Beorning Hut increased to 500
* Damage in human form decreased to 600, in bear form decreased to 150
* Are more vulnerable to arrows
- Dragonslayer: damage with sword decreased to 800 (1250 with forged blades), with Mace decreased to 400 (650 with forged blades)
- Thranduil: Damage decreased to 280, surface damage with two swords by 20%
- Legolas Hawk Strike damage reduced and racharge time increased
- Mirkwood Swordmen: Damage decreased to 40, with blades 120, formation decreased to +50% armor, 50% damage
- Mirkwood Bowmen: increased damage to 24, with silverthornarrows additional 30 MAGIC
- Isengard Ballista: Cant any longer trample over any units
- Sorted Galadriel's skill set
- Galadhrim and Haldir's Galadhrim at Rohan:
* Cause with the bow +50% damage against other ranged infantry
* Cause with the sword +50% damage against other melee infantry, but not against archers
- Ents:
* Increased health points
* Increased damage
* Adapted to current Balance systems

Does this mean the Rohan fortress peasants are still bugged?

just checked briefly. Peasants trained by flour mills are now edain peasants, so the issue has been fixed

Ealendril, I have a few questions. From the begining I have a problem when playing Legendary hero. Command points from over a 1000 get back to 900 and remain stuck at that number. Is it a bug or it's supposed to be like that? Elves are great! Thank you for another release! Hope more will follow. :) . I know it's still early to talk about new faction, but could you please release one of evil faction? Doesn't matter which one, Angmar or Goblins. Balance is not even. There are 4 good and 2 evil factions released so far. I noticed that Beornings can be ridden. How can we do that? Cheers! :)
I think that they ment that now beornings can be TRAMPLED in human form
If the next faction will be evil, i guess it will be angmar, cause they said that misty Mountains are so different that they require the most work

Everytime I play Elves against Mordor I'm rekt. Any strategies that might help, mates?
Go on the offensive. I found that playing defensively (and then sending is massive attacks) is a no win situation, because Mordor relies a lot on the number of units. Right? One orc horde is inconsequential, but ten of them will wear your units down, at absolutely no cost to Mordor. Park your army outside their base and reinforce it constantly; the lorien units' running ability will allow for quick reinforcement. Also, get banner carrier early. It's not too expensive, and in the long run you will be saving a lot of money by not having to replace your units as often. That passive lembas bread ability will make your men last about five times longer, so long as you rotate your depleted hordes.
EDIT: Also, secure those extra resource build plots! That will make your life a lot easier! :)
Hope that helps! I used this strategy against a brutal AI last night and it worked like magic.
Ignore lorien units, spam mirkwood units 50/50 archers and swordsmen. Also have three ministrels on auto-sing. Get Legolas and Galadriel. Then get magic arrows and ents and demoish everything. (This was before the patch though. +70% armor for the swordsmen were kinda op, the lorien faction were on par if not better than the Ered Mithin dwarves)

I have a question; is the a way to actually get Tauriel or will she just be a summon?
On the map mirkwood she can be played as a permanent hero - on all other maps she's just a summon. Most of our fans liked the implementation as a summon more, therefore she stayed as a summon. :) (we had a poll about that some weeks ago)

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I played the Mirkwood map and I didn't see any way to get her as a permanent hero. She wasn't an option at the Mirkwood fortress or the Lorien one. Also, the summon power was still available.
Have you played the 6-player mirkwood map?

Because it's just integrated for the 6-player map.^^ This one map is for the players who really wanted to ahve her as a permanent hero.
Cyanide and all you guys, sorry for the false alarm! I played several games after this release, about five, with Dwarves and Lorien, and there is no command points problem anymore! They stay at 1800 and you can play a normal game without having to worry. :) . Sorry again! . Gnomi, thanx for the information!!! You guys are the best. :DDD . Cheers!
hey guys ,when i get the ring in the misty mountains faction do i have to build a gundabad outpost to build a treasure trove just to get smaug ?! and do we still have mountains giants as buildable units ?

Hey Edain team, I'm not sure if this was intentional but if u break down a building while it is being built outside of the castle, you get no refund... This has become a big problem when first starting the game, a wrong click can cost you thousands when dealing with outposts

Hey Edain when I play with Rohan against Mordor in Ithilien the computer doesn´t build any buildings, they sent two troops of orcs to my fortress and then its like if they stop playing. How can I fix it? Thanks :)
Try to update the mod. When I'm playing the AI is building normally on this map.
Quick 2 questions for you guys:
1. I noticed that if I play in the fortress maps (like Helm's Deep, Isengard, Minas Morgal) the AI will not build siege engines to attack the gate. However, when you have a regular castle setup (like Gondor, Dwarves and Rohan have) the AI will do so without any issue. Are there certain conditions to make them do so?
2. I noticed that Isengard's camp plot does not go away after they have been defeated, so their camp will have their citadel there with no way to remove it. It's not just one map, I've seen it on at least 2. Is there a way to get around it?

Hey Edain Team, I was wondering if there were any plans to add the silver Mirkwood armor that Feren wears, as does Thranduil's captains (elves on horseback that ride into Dale with him). If not, would it be possible to add ithe armor as an option in the CAH builder? I would love to give my elven hero some new duds! I can provide pictures, if you'd like.

This is technically not possible.
But you can choose a dwarf faction, isn't it the same?
No, it's not the same. Arnor has a different spellbook and we can't change the spellbook through upgrades - therefore Arnor would also have the army of the dead and so on.

Anyways, I meant to say that it would be pretty awesome to choose Anor directly from the skirmish tab as if it were a stand alone faction.

I love Glorfindels Winderider, in my opinion best unit of the game.
It's such a pity; you can have it only in a few maps.
There's a maximum amount of factions we can add and by adding Arnor this way we have room for even more other factions. :)
