I am sorry to say this but it just doesn't seem right to me,all of Ered Luin Soldiers to use Thorin Axe as Upgrade! :(
But they still look cool anf with Two Hands they will do some crazy DMG! :-)
I think Second Axe would have been better! :-)

I like the upgrade as long as Thorin himself isn't using that axe in the mod, in which case I find this upgrade a good way to repurpose it.

I do have to disagree with you Dain. I do really like it. I dont think that Thorin uses his axe in the Edain mod and its a very cool design.

Side Note: Also the axe was not designed for Thorin but PJ made it Thorins axe

Well as I said I think it is more suitable for CaH as a Weapon, but still I have no problem with it as Upgrade! It is just my personal taste :-)

Yes this may be Thorin's axe in the which was shown in the movie :)
But, in the mod Thorin does not wear his battle axe so why not use it as Guardians Upgrade ?
In fact, this axe was so common in Ered Luin's weaponry and Thorin was king in exile, not a crown king.
All in all, the dwarven realms are perfect :D this combination from both the Hobbit films and the book is beyond any doubt and question :D
You will win this time Team, keep up with this great work and efforts, people support you, don't forget that :D :D :D

Exactly. Thorin isn't using this axe anymore, and he barely used it in the movies. But since it is such a beautiful weapon, we wanted to implement it in another place. :)

What does it mean "attack from the flank?" :D

When you attack an enemy from different sides, except the front. So, in the back or the side.

Technically speaking, you are correct. But I don't think the game differentiates in that, unless I am wrong. Ingame, when engaging, there is only the rear and the front in terms of damaging the enemy, is there not?

It means that like in Total War games this unit which will wield two-handed axe ( as an upgrade ), is best to be used attacking the enemies from behind, flanks ( usually not protected after front assault ). Best way to use them is to put your pikemen and maybe the elite unit in the front to hold off the enemy hordes and use this unit to outmanouver the enemy infantry, cut off their archers and then turn back and kill the rest of the army. This is also know as hammer and anvil tactics but you can also use it to attack the rear part of the opposing army if it's not guarded well :D

It means that you dont engage(attack) head on but rather from the sides :)

Description

Each Dwarven realm has a unique upgrade for their Guardians. Ered Luin gives them Traveller's axes. These don't increase normal damage, but multiply the damage bonus when the Guardians attack the enemies from the flank. In combat, they wield them two-handed.
