Yes, I think it is a concept more similar to the Anglo-Saxon/Norse culture and element of Rohan :)

Exactly. I was just playing Total War: Attila; cracking some towers with Visigothes Onager, and wondering how stupid this word is^^
then I come here and find this! EPIC

Onager by the way is latin and meens "mule". Actually this was a little joke the legioneries made (like the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima was called "Little Boy"). Nice to have them in Edain!

En.wikipedia.org(siege_weapon) ;o)
"The onager was a Roman siege engine that is a type of catapult that uses a torsional force, generally from twisted rope, to store energy for the shot."
... you have to choose "siege weapon" ... I have a problem with link.

Does the Onager replace the Rohan catapult, or is it an extra siege weapon?

Of course that replace. Why another ranged-siege machine?

The Onager replaces the old rohan-catapult. We felt to make something unique for rohan.

Now this is quite the cool addition. Creates more difference between Rohan and Gondor, and has its own Rohan style. Awesome!

Nice. But this should be the only siege unit for Rohan since Rohan are not known for sieges but more for Their Calvary.

The trebuchet will be removed. Rohan will have the onager and a ram.

1) Rohan has battering ram even in current version, you should better explore it ;o)
2) Yes, Rohan is primarily cavalry faction, secondarily peasants faction, but either way, they need something for siege. :o)))

Does this mean we'll see more varied siege weapons in the future? It looks like the four demo factions have the most varied so far: Gondor: catupult and battering ram, Rohan: battering ram and onager, Isengart: mine, ladder, battering ram and ballista, Mordor: siege tower, catapult, troll catapult and battering ram (and Grond).

Misty Mountains have the trolls, giants and the goblintown units and I guess the other factions will get more siege units, too.

I would like to see not only siege units or siege machines, but "siege heroes", too. For example Mollock, Gladys or trio Gloin/Drar/Bofur who are effective against structures should be effective also against gate or walls. It would be very interactive and realistic. :o)

Does this mean Imladris will get some proper siege?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+2 votes
TiberiusOgden
TiberiusOgden - - 2,061 comments

Well, we are talking about that on the main page:
FG15: "Imladris main siege weapon are the priests/light-bringers."
Gnomi: "The light bringers are one of the strongest siege units. Yes, you have to protect them, but imo they are MUCH stronger than any other siege unit. You just have to take care of them."
and I added: "Priests/light-bringers" because there is problem invent something different, like catapults or rams, Imladris is not faction which conquering something. So this "magic siege units" is only reasonable solution which fits perfectly. Yes, on dunedain outpost could be rams or something like that but faction needs some siege units early - either from fortress or settlements. Through outpost it would be very complicated for game play.
And I very appreciate that Hobbit's ballistas are gone. Conquering through the hobbits was always very prodigious :o))) ... and AI loves them. ... Of course that lightbringers are weak - they are only elves :o)) ... Well, If you use them wisely they can be very useful (for example their combination). And they are quite speedy in comparison to Ents" :o)))
