ESF Is a Fast Paced, 3rd Person Fighter Based On The Hit Anime, Dragonball Z

Select your favorite character and fly, power up, transform, melee, and beam your enemies into pulp. Each character is given signature moves and abilities to compliment different style of play. Some are stronger in hand to hand combat, others are better with energy attacks. Play in three different game modes, deathmatch, team deathmatch, and capture the dragonballs. There is a learning curve so newbies beware. This is not your normal Half-life mod.

Blog RSS Feed Report abuse Latest News: Character Modelers Needed

13 comments by Deverz on Mar 2nd, 2014

Sick of waiting for ESF:F to come out? Want to help speed up the process? Well here's how you can help.

Are you a skilled modeler or know someone else who is? Well contact us on our team speak server and ask how you can help.

We are mostly looking for people who can help work on our remaining characters. This will require creating a character model, building UV maps and fully texturing the model.

Please provide some samples of your work and be prepared to take on a project from start to finish. Please do not contact us if you are not prepared to follow through and complete your set task. It costs the development team time to train new artists on ESF's custom systems setting us further behind.

We are also looking for environment modelers (Mappers), Object modelers (To make the maps more lively) and Music Composers.

Team Speak can be downloaded from here

Our Team Speak server is you will normally find somebody from the team idling there. Raven and Mastasurf are the best people to contact.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Xenoverse will be released for PC. Sorry to say it, but I've lost all interest in this...

Wow really? Xeno for PC. Can't wait for Xenoverse then AND NNK R2. This not really at all anymore. My interest is dying as we never get gameplay content. On another note, have you seen how awesome Xenoverse is and it's only in alpha.

Kyojinmaru Sep 20 2014, 8:12pm replied:

Yep, it looks very good indeed, and unlike many fans, I don't have aversion to new story stuff, so I like the alternate universe idea.

Same I like that it's going in another direction and we get customization and what looks like free roaming. I'm so hyped for Xenoverse lmao. And it's literally in alpha stage it only gets better from here bro.

The free roam is only in the story mode/online/ missions or whatever, much like in naruto ultimate ninja storm where you enter a fight and you can partially roam around the map to position yourself and whatnot, but its a fighting game in the end, reminds me of tenkaichi and raging blast with the lock on system, but faster and smoother.
Dont be fooled , you wont be able to roam as freely as in esf for example, its not an arena based game, but nonetheless it looks pretty good and ill give it a try for sure :b

The gameplay vids i saw on the ZEQ2 forums it seemed slower than street fighter.

But street fighter is good.

I do not deny that. But it doesnt really feel like DBD. Quite honestly id like them do something closer to supersonic warriors. Just faster.

Compare Xenoverse with SF is ridiculous...

nedgi Sep 22 2014, 11:37am replied:

yeah, one is a fighting game and the other is an arena based game, the only thing similar is the theme which is dragon ball, but if you ask me , although xenoverse is a good fighting game, esf is still the best dragon ball game because xenoverse and other games that get released on consoles will always be limited by the controls, im not criticizing the consoles by any means but you can see how its almost impossible to create an esf formula on the consoles, unfortunately i doubt they will ever release a db exclusive to the pc so esf is the best way to go xD

Kyojinmaru Sep 23 2014, 8:18am replied:

I was talking about Street Fighter. Console DBZ games doesn't have anything in common to Street Fighter. Xenoverse will be limited by control (we will see about that, because nothing confirms this...) but ESF is limited by ridiculous development time. Xenoverse will soon be playable, ESF not, and we have to see how the release of Xeno in PC affects ESF.

Grega Sep 23 2014, 12:06pm replied:

So was i. Street fighter is a fighting game. The only difference between DBZ games and Streetfighter is that DBZ games have a bigger range of movement with a slightly less developed combat system and QTE sequences for special attacks to make it seem faster, while street fighter has slower paced movement but a more complex combat system.

But make no misstake both are fighting games at their core. The similarities are like Half Life 1 and CoD 1. Both are FPS at their core.

nedgi Sep 23 2014, 11:32am replied:

Thats silly saying esf is limited by its development time, remember that this is not a company that is doing the game, its a group of people that dont have esf as their main focus while at bandai or whatever its their job to make videogames.
As for the effect that depends on what people like and for me , after watching loads of gameplay, its another tenkaichi with custom characters and a walking sim through the city, the difference is that you dont have to run an emulator to play it now

Kyojinmaru Sep 24 2014, 6:43am replied:

1. A MOD (remember, a mod, not a game) that is unfinished with 11 years of development at its back, is ridiculous. I know the developer of Streets of Rage Remake and he finished the game in 8 years, nearly alone and with 2 or 3 years of doing nothing, that is 5/6 years, and it's a completely new and free game. STALKER Lost Alpha was nearly finished in 5 years and it's practically a new game. And I can go on and go on with examples of reasonable development times.

2. I haven't saw any QTE or the game forcing you on lock-on in any of the trailers, so those arguments are simple suppositions. Even if the game has these two flaws, the game is still professionally developed, unlike ESF.

nedgi Sep 24 2014, 9:39am replied:

so what just because its a mod its automatically easy? besides the mod was released already a long time ago , they are just enhacing it but the early version is playable.
Just because it doesnt have QTEs ( which it will prob have anyway) doesnt mean its not similar to tenkaichi in gameplay, its the same gameplay basis exept with better graphics and a bit smoother.

Kyojinmaru Sep 24 2014, 12:51pm replied:

Tenkaichi 2 doesn't have QTEs and it doesn't oblige you to lock-on.

nedgi Sep 24 2014, 4:33pm replied:

So my point has been proven.
Xenoverse is basically tenkaichi 2 , there are not many notable diferences exept the multiplayer, customization and graphics because the gameplay formula is still there and unfortunately is not a good one IMO

Kyojinmaru Sep 24 2014, 9:39pm replied:

You haven't proven anything, you're supposing, is very different.

The game is being developed by Dimps (Budokai series and Burst limit), thats the proof that indicates the game is gonna be different.

Anyway, this is a nonsense, we're discussing vaporware vs actual software. The choice should be obvious.

nedgi Sep 25 2014, 6:35am replied:

Its a slightly upgraded typical dragon ball for the console , people are just getting this hype because its on the pc , that and the online feature , they are not hyped because they never saw this before, trust me if the game was console only and the online never existed you probably wouldnt even have heard from it until its release, is the same ol thing.

Kyojinmaru Sep 25 2014, 7:35am replied:

No, LOL, I have a PS3 and I knew about the game since the first pic released. I was planning to buy it on PS3, but since my main platform is PC, I will buy it on Steam.

Keep waiting for your vaporware.

SG_SSJ! Sep 24 2014, 6:20pm replied:

Just because the camera is in the 3rd perpective doens't mean the gameplay is the same. Xenoverse has Budokai all over it excpet the camera, so the combo systems are different, supers and Ultimates are all in Real-Time and overall it feels like a different game. Not even the control scheme is similar.

They only thing remotely similar thing about Budokai and Tenkaichi is that they're both DBZ and wannabe-fighting games.

Grega Sep 22 2014, 2:12pm replied:

Actually they are both fighting games. One is just limited to a 2D plane, while the other has more freedom of movement (untill you lock on to someone).

Thats the biggest difference between ESF and the console DBZ games. The console games are fighting games, while ESF is essentially a shooter. So in the end people comparing the 2 are comparing Street Fighter to Quake.

nedgi Sep 21 2014, 12:57pm replied:

its certainly seems faster , but its another typical console dragon ball game, sure it can be fun for a while but i dont see why all the hype , its not going to be much diferent then the previous titles exept from a few features and graphics, we will have to wait and see.
