ESF Is a Fast Paced, 3rd Person Fighter Based On The Hit Anime, Dragonball Z

Select your favorite character and fly, power up, transform, melee, and beam your enemies into pulp. Each character is given signature moves and abilities to compliment different style of play. Some are stronger in hand to hand combat, others are better with energy attacks. Play in three different game modes, deathmatch, team deathmatch, and capture the dragonballs. There is a learning curve so newbies beware. This is not your normal Half-life mod.

Sick of waiting for ESF:F to come out? Want to help speed up the process? Well here's how you can help.

Are you a skilled modeler or know someone else who is? Well contact us on our team speak server and ask how you can help.

We are mostly looking for people who can help work on our remaining characters. This will require creating a character model, building UV maps and fully texturing the model.

Please provide some samples of your work and be prepared to take on a project from start to finish. Please do not contact us if you are not prepared to follow through and complete your set task. It costs the development team time to train new artists on ESF's custom systems setting us further behind.

We are also looking for environment modelers (Mappers), Object modelers (To make the maps more lively) and Music Composers.

Team Speak can be downloaded from here

Our Team Speak server is you will normally find somebody from the team idling there. Raven and Mastasurf are the best people to contact.

We hope to hear from you soon.

It has been 6 years they've been working on that mod. When other people say they'll help, they played with their minds and they never came back to help them finish the game and they were very stubborn fools. We tried to get the devs to release the unstable version of ESF and one of them say "we don't want to disappoint everyone if the game is still bugged" well, who cares. Unstable beta is better than the original.

Like, look at ZEQ2. They release unstable versions back in 2012 and people are starting to like them and they don't give a **** of what they do wrong, so they keep playing and I say there is nothing wrong with that mod except Domitjen quit. I don't know what is going on with him but at first he was being ignorant and he left the community.

If the ESF: Final unstable beta (or version) is not release and DBZ xenoverse is a huge success. Then probably should cease the release, quit, and become dead just like the rest of the mods.

I am sorry if this comment breaks your heart but it has been 6 years now. 2008 to 2015. If you want to show us some appreciation then you either show us videos, or post an unstable version.

Dont confuse the purpose of the projects.

ZEQ2-lite was released as a platform for people to learn how to make their own games. To learn how game creation works, using ZEQ2-lite as a sandbox for that experimentation. It was not meant as a game and acording to Zeth "Doesnt have the mechanics to be a game".

Also we had an open beta. We got complaints and insults because it was buggy. So we stopped it. And tahts a decision we stand by.

As a side note. Ryo posted a couple of pics from what he is currently tinkering with, in case anyone is interested ->

So? don't listen to those who insult you about this stupid buggy game. They can't read. And if someone doesn't understands me and its my project I have made then i'll knock some senses into them. I don't give a **** if its against the law and ****.

Still, I want that game to be release and I am giving you guys 1 more year before I unscribe you. I am sick and tired of waiting so ******* long for this. But i hope you enjoy messing around. OH! and you guys haven't STREAMED IT! I am very disappointed...

Actually we did ^^

We tried out taht STEAM streaming service acouple of weeks ago. Not sure if anyone recorded anything or not, but we pretty much had an event talking to people and showing off the state of the game. And its bugs XD

Getting stuck outside the map is quite funny. Especially since i abused the debug teleport command to get myself in to an instant melee hit position XD

It was directly over STEAM, so i dont think it was saved anywhere, unless one of the people there recorded it. Though thats doubtfull really.

So ESF team, what's the percentage of completion now? Is the game still super unplayable? In all honesty, will it ever be playable? Can we please get a gameplay video so we can see what we have to look forward to?

SasukeUchihaEMS Feb 8 2015, 5:56pm replied:

Why do these questions get ignored every single time? You guys don't want people to give up on this mod, but not posting about the progress makes everyone think there is none. It's not like you don't see the questions because you make an effort to answer the insignificant ones. As I've said before, it sure is easy to take a bunch of screenshots and draw from a pool of them and post whenever you see fit, claiming for them to be new. We don't know whether or not this is true, we just take your word for it.
I just want to know how far along are you at this point, what are you currently working on, is there any progress with the glitches or does it still crash randomly, will this ever be playable.

Seriously, just look at it from our perspectives.
-There is no POTW like promised
-Your PR guy is non-existent
-Ignoring important questions
-No sign of progress
-Super small amount of videos, and the one "new" (using this term relatively because we never get videos) video was wasted by giving us a "joke" and showing us not actual gameplay, but an egg flying around...
-Xenoverse is coming out and it already looks better and more appealing than this, making many many people drop this mod.

I mean seriously, think about it. Imagine you're at your house getting ready to host a party. No one shows up, so you call. They say they are on their way, so you wait. Minutes go by, you call again. They still confirm they are on their way. Hours, they swear they will show up. Now take that and make it years. How long are we supposed to wait with nothing to confirm what you're saying? Waiting is bad enough, but false promises are even worse. I hope ESF Final isn't the latter but with nothing to show for it, I guess only time will tell, and I'm afraid it's not looking well for us.

Retired dev here;
One reason your question doesn't get answered is mostly because the devs aren't reading them. Literally they could check the page, and not come back for several months to see how things are going. It's nothing personal it's just not a priority.

This question gets asked all the time, almost daily. There is no answer. The devs have their own lives and ESF is a very low priority on it. How far along is the game? Who knows? The devs have a list of goals they want to meet but at any point a dev can drop out or stop working. Putting the game further back than it would have been.

There is no definitive answer to this question which is why it isn't answered. Long ago it used to be answered by devs, but then when something went wrong fans would rant "YOU SAID IT WAS 70% DONE ITS BEEN WEEKS IT SHOULD BE DONE BY NOW"

So now the answer is it's done when it's done. And yes, that may be never. Go play Xenoverse, or any other games you enjoy. Keep the game tracked on ModDB and if they update you'll get a notification.

This is pretty much what I've figured. People have it in their heads ESF is their only concerns. They aren't a game company, they have other things going on in their lives. The team seems to have been shrinking as well. It only makes sense that the development drags. Even more so that Xenoverse is on the scene, and for PC, the bar is set that much higher.

All I can say is good luck to the team at this point.

then release the current state? its highly unproductive not to do so , its not a commercial project that you guys are safe guarding the files n builds . make it open sourced so that it can never die . thats only logical to do so.

Grega Feb 11 2015, 4:56pm replied:

Its not a commercial project, that is correct. But we are not going to release it as open source, because that would mean we are giving up on it and tossing it asside.

ZEQ2-lite is open source because its intention is to be a sandbox for people who want to learn how to become a developer. ESF doesnt have such goals, so going open source is the same as saying "We give up with this, we are done with it so we are tossing it out there for whoever and wahtever." And tahts something we will not do.

As for the current state release. During the open beta fiasco, it was decided to not do that untill we release it. And we are standing by that decision.

As for updates. This is from January.

And this is from the forums.
